Why GalCiv is my new favorite game

Just a few moments ago, I attempted to update GalCiv. I have been having some difficulty with this the last few days. So very frustrated I went to the Chat room and made another desperate plea for help. GreenReaper who happened to be out there calmly offered to solve my problem and was able to walk me through the process of troubleshooting my problem. In a few moments I was able to download the latest patch. I was surprised to find out that he was not customer support but just another gamer, who offered his assistance in helping me out. I want to say thank you very much. Which brings me to my point, a big part of a game, is the atmosphere created by the dedicated PC gamers who play them, and it was really cool to see another joe, taking time to help his fellow GalCiv fans get their game working properly. So far I have yet to see any serious flaming occuring on the boards. I see helpful people, who are just interested in discussing a game they love, and assisting each other. I think Stardock is a big part of this fostering a positive atmosphere, with their support of this game and a dedication to make it something special. This seems to be rare in todays gaming community. It is a breathe of fresh air, and It is my sincerist desire that other game companies will stand up a take notice of this kind of customer service, and allowing us, the consumers, and fans, to be part of the process rather than treating us coldly and with disdain.
