Happy with my master...

So I'm playing on a huge map and all the elder races are firmly dominated by me in all areas. Hwoever, the I-League is causing me no end of trouble. Thats ok, I just developed dreadnaughts so they will soon be relegated to the annals of history.

Heres my problem, I attack a forward system and invade. I land about 10billion troops on the planet and clean the place up. Immediately I purchase the two existing morale boosting social structures available, as well I build a cultural starbase right outside and load it up.

For some reason I cannot seem to get that systems morale rating to go above 1. And It's been like this since I took over the system. No amount of cutural improvement is helping...

Any suggestions?

There are too many people on the planet due to your military landing. Build a transport / colony ship and threw a bunch in space to fix the problem (you should leave something like 1 billion).

since moral bonus go up like +20% and such, 20% of 1 is still 1. i dont know how to help you.

Thanks Fogia, I'll give that a shot.

This particular game in general has been a strange one. Two of the minor races are far more powerful than any of the elder races. The I-League has me matched in almost every category. They must bow before my will!!

Ichimaru:
Morale doesn't multiply, it adds

1 is simply the lowest possible rating displayed.

oh maby thats why all my worlds moral doesnt seem to go up as fast as i think it should lol

I ran into the same problem in my last game. Morale eventually went up to 9% and then (I think) 17% after maximizing propaganda spending and removing a thousand people via transport. The odd thing is, the planet didn't behave as if it was suffering from low morale. Other than commiseration, I'm afraid I can't add anything useful to the discussion. :(

It is overpopulation, get rid of some ppl and they will live happily ever after.
There is also some defect-prohibiting going on, seeing that you just invaded the planet and such...

Yeah, definitely overpopulation. When you take over a system, all the troops from the invasion are now citizens. Last time I invade with 20billion troops :notsure:

After invading I now set to build transport and get those excess troops outta the system.

Not population in my case. Offloading a thousand military "colonists" halved the population of the system. Normally this is a sure bet to jump you to 100% morale. As well, my invading forces were outnumbered by defenders, so the resulting population was lower in any event. Like I said, the odd thing was the lack of any sign of rebellion - no angry red face, no warning in the details screen, no obvious penalty to output. Tough to troubleshoot.

One thing to be aware of is that just because population X was happy before the invasion doesn't mean that anything close to the same population will be happy after the invasion.

I like taking the +15% PQ bonus, and one of the reasons for it is because almost every time the AI invades one of my planets, he gets stuck with an instant red angry face because of the loss of that bonus. :)

Yeah, I take the +10% PQ bonus, it makes a big difference in conquest and cultural acquisition, monopolizing sectors that don't have PQ>=15 planets, and mid to late game colonization.

As a side note, I gave back a Drengin colony that had defected (and received a PQ bonus). It had been wasted in a previous war with another AI, so was only PQ11. I managed to get it to PQ13 before I gave it back. Since I knew it would only defect again, I wanted to see whether I'd get the PQ boost again. The answer is no. Fortunately, the planet had a very low population, so it stayed relatively happy.
