Problem with 1.02

I saw version 1.02 available for download last night, and after some fidiling to get rid of the 85 meg download problem, i happily grabbed a copy.

Unfortunatly if there were any warnings about the patch i didn't see them, and after Stardock finished installing it i found that i couldn't load my old 1.01 saves anymore!

I reinstalled the game and installed the 1.01 pack i'd downloaded before. I can load my 1.01 games again now, however i'd like to get the 1.01a patch so i could get the fixes in it. Is there any way to get the 1.01a patch through Stardock instead of the 1.02 patch?

It's usually common knoweledge that a save game from an earlier patch won't work on a newly patched game. It's not always the case, but it certainly seems that way to me often.

Actually it's not usually the case. The last game i worked on we got through three or four patches without having to touch the save file data format, and when we finally had to make a change we made sure to warn everyone that old saves would be invalidated.

The real problem however is that 1.01a now seems to be unavailable for download because 1.02 is sitting "on top" of it. I'd really like to know if there's a way to still get 1.01a on my home computer so i can finish my current game with those fixes before i upgrade to 1.02.

It would also be nice if there was a note included with future announcements about whether the patch will invalidate old saves.

Try the bonus pack via the DOWNLOAD link here. If they haven't updated that, it is the older bonus pack and update to 1.01.029, IIRC.
