Best Defense Unit: AMM?

Are AMM really effective in defending your planet against an invasion?? I like em cause they do a lot of damage and they are low in keeping them in maintenance

Missiles in the game are used like they are in real life, cheap way to deliever powerful explosives a nice distance. It's not a reliable show of strength though, because they're one shot toys. If you get some bad luck they will all be used and the net damage you caused might not make up for the cost of the missiles.
