Burning on CD

Hello...
I tried to burn GalCiv on a CD but it missed. Is it the CD, is it the way I did it? No idea, I'm not used to burn CDs. So what should I burn on a CD? Anything special I should do? How can I incorporate all the latest patches with it: by burning them separately or already installed? Do I just take the GalCiv folder and burn it?

Thx for your help on a burning newbie :p

I'm assuming you downloaded the game off Stardock, so I would just copy the file you got from that (.zip? .exe? ...I dunno, I bought mine at EB). Also, burn onto that CD the Bonus Pack patch.

As far as the latest updates go, I'm not sure how to add those.

Now, as far as the actual burning goes, I'd get a decent CD-R to copy to (don't bother with those large spindle packs if you're looking to keep this CD for a while). Check the record speed on the CD (4x, 12x, 24x, etc.) and make sure that your burning software isn't trying to copy faster than that. If you're still burning coasters (i.e. bad disks), then set the copy speed to something low, like 2x or even 1x.... it'll take longer, but you should have a good copy then.

Don't forget to check to see if your burning software has any updates, too.

Well when we download from Stardock, it automatically installs... So not zip, no exe.

Otherwise, I probably wouldn't need to ask.

SDC makes backups of the files it downloads... that said, if you can't find/don't have those, you can just copy the entire Gal Civ directory to a CD. It will fit fine, and then you can just copy it back over when you need to.
