Pink floyd in the mud

I’ve reached that age
when time tells stories and
causes memories to float to the surface
with completed "out of body" visuals and live
soundtracks
when I saw them first at
Anaheim stadium soaked in rain
just cool enough to make drugs more necessary
than entertainment
pink floyd dropped a giant burning pig
on the crowd and I saw Thomas’ brother
run entirely naked through the crowd
followed by a string of fat guys with “EVENT STAFF”
pasted to their shirts
I remember thinking it was going to be a drag getting
home, he had the keys
roger waters spanked the crowd by taking a break and
causing a minor riot in front of the stage
the mud was everywhere and I remember chuck trying to
pass a joint before the riot hit the pitchers mound
it was a hell of a night
I made it back to long beach without my shoes or
socks or my t-shirt
somehow I cut my forehead and scared the dog
but things have changed
my jeans hold my ass up now
instead of the other way round
the idea of running naked through the crowd
covered in mud is a temptation that has grown
easier to avoid
and lately, PBS is running pink floyd on the
tube
but I do miss the challenge.
