You guys just don't figure it out. When I read people encouraging us to adopt empires that better reflect 'our cultural values' I cannot help but answering that Europe is a cultural value. There is no one European State that does not owe much of its history, for the better or for the worse, to a whole network of European social, cultural and economic ties.

Well the fact is that I'm no longer a senator. So a lot off senators have been removed. Not that I mind personally, I mean if everybody is a senator, what's the point of having them?

Call for Referendum on Senatorship Rights and Admission Status

Background and Justification -

Dear Colleagues,

With the incredible growth of our Empire, it has become evident that we need some precise guidlines related to Senatorship and Admission. It is for this reason that I call on you for a general Referendum on Sentorship Rights and on Admissions.

From today, and for the next three (3) weeks, all members will have the right to vote on their preferred modus operandi for the Senate. For those of you who want to register a secret vote, you shall register your choice in the private forum established by our colleague G-Force. For the purposes of the Referendum on Senatorship, scrutiniy shall consider as victourious a qualified majority - the option with the most votes will be adopted. For the next three weeks, all members are free to propose additional options, and to vote for them.

With regards to the Referendum on Admission Status, I invite you all to discuss in public forums the advantages and disadvantages of adopting an invitation only policy, and to vote accordingly to your arguments. In this case, absolute majority (50 percent plus one) will determine the result of the Referendum.

Here are the two questions. Please register your vote by using the letter of the call and the number of the option.

A. CALL ON SENATORSHIP RIGHTS AND SELECTION

What Criteria should be used to select Senators?

1- Senators should be elected by all members of the Alliance. No other discriminatory criteria shall be considered

2- Senators should be selected according to merit. Members with the highest scores shall be Senators

3- Senators shall be selected according to nationality. Each country should be represented, regardless of the characteristics of representing senators.

B. CALL ON ADMISSION STATUS POLICY

1- The Alliance should adopt and invitation only admission policy. Procedures related to invitations shall be discussed at a later stage.

2- The Alliance shall maintain the present admission policy.

How very European, to have such a silly concept as 'everyone is a senator' and a 'referendum' on such trite matters. By the way, GROSS doesn't have such nonsense, we are a full democracy where everyone has a say, and doesn't have to be a 'senator'. Well, somebody had to remove the Senators. I first asked Impune_Lacessit why this was done, but I now understand it was not him. So who did it? It is not much of a European Union thought if these kind of things happen. Since I got no response I decided to leave the alliance, until these things a cleared.

A well founded complaint and decision. I'm not a senator anymore too. So who removed them guys? I'll also quit if things like this keep happening.

I know I'm not the guy bringing in the most points but it would be fun to have a good community going here.

With lamers that remove senators and then don't tell why they did it, this is NOT a community.

As I said, I did not remove Senators. Freya did not get any answers simply because I don't have any such answers. As for the community thing, the purpose of the call on referendum is precisely to encourage all members to discuss new procedures. Now, it is up to you to come with good arguments and solutions, instead of complaining. We are making the Senatorship procedure as transparent as possible precisely to avoid such thing from happening again.

As for Freya, I am not too sure of whether he should be eventually readmitted. I suppose this is a matter for future Senators to decide.

As for my vote, after careful thought, I decided as follows.

For the call A, I vote option 3

For the call B, I vote option 1

Freya, there is a big difference between justified criticism and unjustified personal attacks. As I still claim that I have not done what you accuse me of having done, I reckon your statments belong more to the latter category than to the former. Besides, I do not think that is that unreasonable to suggest that traitors should perhaps not be readmitted. Notice, however, that I did specify that this was a matter for a future Senate to discuss, and that it is not just up to me to decide.

I said ages ago (upon release of Gal Civ) that I'd join your ranks. Now I finally can. Glad to see we're number 1 I like to think my defection from 'poly (I don't know why I joined them anyway :notsure: ) boosted us into first Viva Europe!
