Drug Poem - Untitled

Move and breathe like a drug addict
With unsteady, quick steps and a head that
shakes and looks back and forth
And a clogged, "stuffy" nose, dazed
eyes and mouth open, seemingly in
surprise, but really for air.
Expression blank but confused
Actions quick and clumsy, ill at ease
Paranoid schizoid
Fingers that fidget, feeble feelers
That rattle like old, used legs
Legs that twitch like eyelids,
Cannot focus on anything.
Move like a drug addict, think like a drug addict
No rest, no relaxing, always always
always
on.
Jaunty shaky arthritic thoughts-
slow and disabled
But definitely positive.
Then s l o o o o o w s d o w n .
Almost to a complete stop . . . but not quite.
To the state where things are like
a mostly-forgotten dream.
But you can feel it pressing on your
forehead
It rests on your tastebuds for a reminder
It thickens the nose, breathing gets deeper
And your joints must release.
With unsteady, quick steps and a head that
shakes and looks back and forth
And a clogged, "stuffy" nose, dazed
eyes and mouth open, seemingly in
surprise, but really for air.
Expression blank but confused
Actions quick and clumsy, ill at ease
Paranoid schizoid

That rattle like old, used legs
Legs that twitch like eyelids,
Cannot focus on anything.
Move like a drug addict, think like a drug addict
No rest, no relaxing, always always
always
