Startdock Certified Mods Feature Request

I heard about "Stardock Certified Mods". It would be nice if there was support for easily installing/removing mods for a specific game. For example, it would be nice to be able to select which mods you want to use when you start a new game.

I'm reluctant to download and install mods, because I don't want to corrupt the game and have to reinstall everything.

Since most mods involve editing text files, this shouldn't be too hard to implement.

Mods are separate files you place in your Data directory. If you don't want to use that mod, move it out of Data to some other place.

The progress bar that appears when loading or starting a game after starting GalCiv is when the data files are being loaded (only done once per session). Adding in a feature to select mods would mean that data files will have to be reloaded for every load or new game, and it would be a pain to code.

In another thread, StarDock asked for players to volunteer to test mods. I think that is a great idea. Personally, I want the StarDock folks working on other stuff.

I wouldn't mind if StarDock put a stronger warning on ALL mods saying that these are 'use at your own risk'.

But, seriously, given all the infinite possibilities for mods, testing them would be more than a full-time job.
