G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

Rejoin? Not at the moment. Unless you give me 25000 BC's/20 turns, LOL , j/k. Someday coffee, i'll make those arrangments to re-join.

For now I must continue my 'covert' operation...

1. In the Southern Hemisphere we say that "If you are not number one, you have lost".

In the north we say, just win baby.

3. I regularly misquote for dramatic effect. Just ask Pontius.

And here i chalked it up to your senility.

5. My understanding is that at Crippling, the economic model is 'even' between AI civs and Human. At lesser difficulties, the AI is programmed to 'not notice' when the Human does something like build a culture starbase next to their capitol. At Masochistic, the economic model is severely prejudiced against the Human.

Actually, other than the economy, I see not much difference in the iq of the ai. In fact, Normal is easier than subnormal. I suppose the dev's thought running your self ragged with debt early was stupid. The ai's do that on subnormal levels. But that's precisely the strategy the computor or player should do. Ant "normal" the computer is much too smart to run up its debt. The result is it's actually easier to win the colony rush and thus the game. And they've told me to get my dang culture center out of there on every level so far.

6. I apologise if I overstepped the mark. Put it down to me being over-excited at cracking the Top 25 thru playing cheesy version 1.20. Forgive me?

You mean we are not to chalk it up to the same source as your misquoting? :)

G.R.O.S.S. may forgive, but we never forget. Nevertheless, your complete backpeddle apology is accepted.

It's amazing to see how people that aren't even in G.R.O.S.S. come here and tell you guys how it should be.

But we just tell em to put their jammies on and go to bed like their mommy says.

10 hours, gesh your evil

It was only 4 hours!

Evil never triumphs, you will all succumb to the
awesome culture of goodness!

I just need to find an empire first.

Cultural assimilation is evil. We have already seccumbed. That's why we are here. You just wont admit it to yourself. You know you want to join. That's why you're here.

Whew. (*Brushes nervous sweat from brow*). Another let off (at least by Pontius and Staffa), thru the evil strategy of a quick, heartfelt apology. I think maybe Coffee is still smarting tho.

As I said elsewhere, why don't you chaps just form a 'G.R.O.S.S. USA Empire' and have done with it. Next it will be the Allegheny Plateau Empire or The Adirondack Mountains Empire.

Why should they change their name? If they meant it to be that theny they prolly would've made their name that. Things don't have to be so reigonal. Thats almost discriminating...

"Coffee, sheesh, are you a "European" by any chance?"

You have a knack for stepping into it. LOL ;) Matter of fact, yes.

"I regularly misquote for dramatic effect."

Grrrr. (Contemplating spreading C.P. on my toast.) :d

"My understanding is that at Crippling, the economic model is 'even' between AI civs and Human."

Not quite. The Geniuses get +5%. At Painful it´s even.

"I apologise if I overstepped the mark."

Apology accepted. Guess I will have to find someone else for my toast, this time. :)

No you don't. You want to join us. That's why you're here. You know it, I know it. My brother who lives in Portland knows it. And the American people know it. You just cannot stay away. Just admit it to yourself and save yourself the anguish, join us, and rule with us.

Peeps from all areas are welcome here. We're from all over.

Besides, Code monkey would flip his lid. That should be reason enough.

My experience is that at intelligent level is where the AI will definitely catch on to culture tricks in their sectors. The test bed was a couple of games where I put 4 AIs on normal and one on intelligent. Another game I tried 3 normals and 2 brights. The intelligent one noticed my culture bases in their sector as a threat 100% of the time and were willing to war even from a clearly disadvantageous position over it. The normals never caught on and where given the old culture judo flip with my normal finesse. The brights did catch it once, but gave me only a colder relation score when I ignored them. (Poor guys flipped soon enough anyway.)

Anyway, time to try and flip that last $#@* Drengin planet to claim my win on my current game. Just don't expect an outrageous score. It is a challenging huge map on the low scoring v1.3A.

Coffee #283: You're OK for a European. ;) I'd guess Holland, but oh please let it be Belgium. I'd have SO many jokes to tell you if you're from Belgium. Oh... no, no I wouldn't. Anyway, as you know, we down here look up to you guys. My partner says I make really good toast too.

From my experience, the lower difficulties didn't feel like playing against people: I did some outrageous things without a peep from the other civs. For added realism at any level, what I would like to see is a change to trading. For example, I can't think of any times when the other civs refused to buy a tech (if they had the cash). Surely if a certain civ has a poor economy they would occasionally refuse to buy a tech, or a ship? Yet they will happily go into massive debt.
Another example: at the end of my last game I declared war on the bottom civs in order to offer peace and demand reparations *the very same turn*. The Arceans gave me about 3,000bc for 40 turns, so racked up a debt over 100,000 bc! Similarly, I had over 100,000 bc saved. Doesn't seem right to me.

I read Staffa's way to score big. I knew about all that. I'm just wondering how he can play so many games so fast. Takes me a week to get one in. OF course then it crashes 2 turns from the end or worse gets me the big anomoly. LOL.

Done those Paper hats G.R.O.S.S. ers We are now 8th and we put Frogboy's bunch off the map thanks to Staffa's entry into our mighty empire. We are within striking distance of Suzie Denkin's shoot club for 7th.

In other news. I see our number 1 empire in metaverse got pink for their color. How appropriate.

HAHAHHAHAAHHAHA in other news, you know you totally own someone when they mention you front and center in the first post of THEIR RECRUITING THREAD. Well Done G.R.O.S.S. ers. Well done. You all thoroughly own these guys.

We defeated G.R.O.S.S, others are shaking seeing MWC make it's way up. Celebrate if you are an MWC member. Join us and we shall go together to the glorious future of the Mid Western Confederation. (Pontius, you can do your alien racial scam and polute this thread with silly claims).

Speaking of Polluting Silly claims, We're 8th, they are 9th. HEHE. Yet more foot in mouth soon as he checks the metaverse. This is the second time!!!! You think they'd learn over there.

My 'normal' game where I dont do anything lame like
milk a score for points takes about 4-6 hours for
a gigantic map and is worth about 7-10k points

The milked game took about 9 hours and was mostly
done to prove a point. Before that I was ranked 13th
with a score of about 12k, so while it made a big
difference, id still be pretty high without it :)

Well if you go the military route which is probably
more enjoyable, it would take a lot more time to do
a turn, going the influence route as I do makes
for relatively shorter turns :)

Ah... life SO gets in the way of true evil-ness. That, and a constant fear of my scores becoming "anomalous" as one time-waster did a couple weeks back. Anyway, I just wanted to pop in here and catch up with my fellow (all superior, apparently) members of G.R.O.S.S.

I'm working on a Gigantic game and am currently neutral (though evil where it counts!) as I build up my forces in preparation for an attack on those Dudley-Do-Right Altarians who currently have me blocked in a corner. All aliens - even those that look a bit similar to our superior selves - WILL fall under the heel of humanity... but not 'til later this week. (See above re: real life.)

My apologies to the might G.R.O.S.S. senate for my currently low scores - rest assured they will not remain in the basement for long. (Oh, and that last "pure good" victory... let's just say it was a means to an end. A crushing and violent end for aliens, that is.)

Well, back to the game... hope to finish it up before next weekend. (How DO some of you find the time?)

Looks like I am going to be late in paying my taxes, boss. My game ran into v1.3A's glorious homeless ship bug. I asked someone to fix the save, but it might be a bit before it is fixed, if it can be at all. So, only thing I can do is keep that old set of saves on the back burner and start a new game. To think, I was only one planet from winning that one, too! Those the breaks.

Dudley-Do-Right Altarians

LMAO

My apologies to the might G.R.O.S.S. senate for my currently low scores

well my zero didn't help matters much either. Hopefully I can get that 5200 back or at least get the zero removed.
