Captain Jack Sparrow Captain Jack Sparrow

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

Pontius, did the extra memory help you? I went from 128 to lots, and the game is easily 50% faster, and as I reach the end of a small map, probably 100% faster. I didn't realise how much difference it would make!

Frogboy said it's been fixed awhile ago but I still think there may be some leakage. I went from 128-384. It runs faster most of the way through but still bogs down at the end game. Though it doesn't totally bind up and crash like it used to.

Part 7: And for Our Third Intermission...

The pair of vessels sailed effortlessly through the darkness. Each assault required a brief respite, but inebriation was a temperamental beast. She devoured quickly and then left her victims to squander in sorrow. Thus Kit and EBZ needed to expedite their quest. “Their” quest?

“Are we gonna kill any Altarian scumbags on our next raid?” EBZ queried.

“Not likely,” Kit replied honestly.

“Right. Then I’m gonna bug out.”

“K, catch ya later.”

EBZ’s ship abruptly peeled off. “Whatever.”

EBZ was actually one of the most caring pirates within G.R.O.S.S. He just had a... unique way of showing it.

It was time for Enya... and reflection. The small voice thrived during times such as these, and returned in a carefree mood.

“What was Part 2?” it asked.

Pay the Space Pirate was in the Fellowship thread.” Kit said aloud.

“So... this began here in Threadzilla with One Night...

“Right.”

“And now... ?”

Kit took a deep breath... and then a slurp of James Boag Premium from his camel pack. “Just one more target. We’re headed for Coruscant.”

“Just one more for the killa?”

Kit was oblivious to the little voice’s game. “This will be tricky, but their Sith need an example.”

Wizards were blocked by a spell shield. Farmers were distracted by locusts. ANZACs were... ANZACs. How would the mad marauder handle Jedis?

Incidently, Two of our members lead the Jack of all alignments category.

First is Pontius Bruin Pilot with an average rank of 5.33 across all three boards
Second is Jaws with an average rank of 8.33 across all three.

Now what this means is obviously Pontius has too much time on his hands and better get back to playing. hehe.

Kit is hard to keep up with, but it is interesting, and the boss really thought Threadzilla needed some extra attention tonight. But an emperor's duties are never done. Thanks for keeping us up to speed, boss.

I get it on small maps too, Hurls. I noted the bug report a while back that makes out if no civ (including yours) is doing any research, the game CTDs (I think EBZ picked this up). I would expand that to all catagories - so I never set mil, soc or res sliders to 0% - I always leave them at 1% during the game if I need to 'switch them off'. Frequency of CTDs decreased dramatically since then.

Oh ho Wombie. Now that you say that, many of my problems stem from when I set one slider to 100%, and the same for the game as well.

My memory went from 128 to 128x5 (whatever that equals). Um, why don't they use base 10 for memory?

Kit, loved your multi-threader. :D I got lost at first by coming in at part 5.

Pontius: I can see I will have to crack the top 25 to get any game recognition. Poor Gerakken and me are the lost boys when it comes to actually playing Galciv!
Oh, and keep the stories coming! This will probably be considered in years to come as the Golden Age of Galciv with all of the authors out there.

Killa - DEFINATELY worth trying that one out. Made a BIG difference to my CTD frequency.

Kit - you definately have TOO much time on your hands (thank God, say we your audience!). Are you a fan of the Goons? I seem to recall one of their famous programs entitled: "The Phantom Head-Shaver of Brighton" - inspiration for you?

"From 1952 to 1960 the Goons ruled the airwaves, the most celebrated and influential clowns in the history of radio."

How old do you think I am?!?! Perhaps there's something more recent that my quick internet search did not reveal.

inspiration for you?

Good question. If I may expand it outward to a more general level... my inspiration comes from more sources that I can cite. Books, movies, television, online forums, real life encounters... they're all jumbled together in my head and I'm too lazy to give credit. [sigh] I'm not very original at all... but who among us does not build on the works of others? What I lack is creativity. At least... enough creativity to fool myself into thinking I'm original.

I started to pull in real life issues with two of my "breaks". This isn't the place for that kind of whining. I must remember to cut myself off next time. ;)

Aw Kit. Come here for a backrub. You are so, original.

There, how does that feel? Now snap out of this sober reflection. It's not you. Sounds like you've been looking into the abyss too long. Cheer up, and ah, have another drink. Oh, maybe don't have a drink. Um, have a nice cup of tea and a good lie down.
