Captain Jack Sparrow Captain Jack Sparrow

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

You are pure evil Staffa, oh no, wait, you are Pure Good? :notsure:

I thin EB means does it really matter whether there are a lot of threads. I suppose from my perspective I am starting to find it difficult to keep up with everything...but I knew that would have to happen. And at least we can now highlight the threads we want to read. I've just bought an apartment so I have had less time to converse too.
Ahhhh Oh well Chris, the Best reading is right here anyway and in the Anzac thread. Only two you need to keep a watch on.

Oh and there is no wasteage associated going with 100% military, or either of the other two production categories to my knowledge. There should be.

G.R.O.S.S. has just now gone over 50,000 points (applause) I still have that 5200 bagger coming so that should help a bit. We are in prime striking distance of shoot club and realistically only 10k out of 5th. And we have fewer games in than most empires in the top 10. MAKE THEM ALL CRINGE IN FEAR G.R.O.S.S. ers!!!

Just win Baby.

Ive always been pure good in so far as my enemies
can see, im a master of illusion!

Don't let that jovial Aussie Rattle ya Staffa!!! We all know this is a power game. We Pride ourselves here at G.R.O.S.S. at being a power team. There is no true good and evil in this game. It's all about power. Gotta don the sheeps clothing sometimes when you're a wolf. Looks like I may have to this game.

It goes well though. Looks like I'll get nearly 1/3 the Yellow stars in the Galaxy during the colony rush. Always a good start. I have upped my difficulty from Normal to Challenging.

Wow!! The Yor actually have some teeth for a change. This is the first game they've done anything. They rushed about 10 Colony ships at My planets. They clearly were mine. So I just had to smack the heck out of em with my survey ship (It's all I had at the time) That thing has about 50 kill's now(tons of starfighters and corvettes too) Level 6 (Godlike) and is indestructable untill battleship era. I just got em via the Altarians who must have thought I really needed em hehe. Looks like I'm gonna have to do a bit of fighting. My kind of Galaxy baby.

Pontius#354 : Rattle Staffa? Snort. He'll have the lot of you in the Top 5 in no time.
Do you know I never thought of using my survey ship as an attack vessel? I'm going to start a new game and see if I can work out some new tactics, and maybe pore over Staffa's 'How I Cracked Galciv in 132 Easy Moves'.

'How I Cracked Galciv in 132 Easy Moves'

There's no wrong way to make a buck, eh? As long as its all legal then hey I'd be miklin' games till the cows came home :) . (Of course I can never seem to find enough time to do so :( )

Never Chris? I do it all the time. Of course be careful. I think I nearly overdid it this time. Mine has like 10 hit points left and the Yor are chasing it all over the friggen map!!! They are ignoring virtually everything else. LOL It's got almost 70 Kills now. It's singlehandedly winning the war against em. I think the puter wants it dead baaaaaad. G.R.O.S.S. Von Richtoven Pilots that ship. :D LOL

ARRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHH DANG THOSE FUNDAMENTALISTS!!!!! I'm gonna send em to the moon. The Good news is they only tool 1 of my planets and several from the Drengin. The Bad news. It was Sol.
We have retaken Earth. I broke the bank to do it, but bottom line. Had to retake my capital. Now to retake the research capital (they got it too I just didn't see it)

But I think I can turn this to my advantage. The Yor lost a couple worlds. Now, they are weak. I strike now!!!! And the Fundies as well. Meanwhile, I'm going to take a fundie world deep in Drengin space and quickly set up a culture bomb baby. Come on in Drengins, the Torian Sushi is good today!!!
I told you that you would just love those Fundies, Pontius. They are a blast, especially if it is a game where everyone is evil. :)
Man these Fundies are enough to make you want to go good. But I think though it only happens to evil civs, the extent to which it happens in your empire is tied to morale rather than "how evil you are" (tricky devs) Don't know that for sure but that's what I observed.

Say Grossers, I just looked at the Galactic map. The one that's stuck. Now I'm not complaining cuz we're unjustly left off it, but I did find it amusing the MWC's color is Yellow!!!(slang for chicken or cowardly for you non Americans out there) You think it knew something? :D LOL

Just found out Staffa is #1 now! Congratulations!! :CONGRAT:

Adding to that, I propose to promote Staffa to Senator, for the following outstanding achievements:

-Winning 5 games on Masochistic
-Contributing 22.000 points to our cause
-Ingeniously proving the whackiness of the current scoring system :D

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Durn game.!!!!! I had it won. Then the resources disappeared. Then the planets disappeared. Then ships went right through each other. I was real close to a submission. I didn't want to risk another anomoly and zero score so I just tabled it and downloaded 3.5 Hopefully it's fixed. Started another galaxy.

"Then the resources disappeared. Then the planets disappeared. Then ships went right through each other."

Yikes! (Sounds like a good sript for a horror movie, though.) :SURPRISED: :SURPRISED:

LMAO night of the killer better download 1.35a now.

Trying a Masochistic game just for kicks. Not as bad as I thought it was. Holding my own. May even win. Gotta be willing to trade for tech though.
Staffa: I recall you saying the game becomes unstable when you run up that pop. Boy does it ever. It ran my poor lil machine ragged, Planets suddenly disappeard because the engine couldn't handle all the data. Resources disappeard. Finally the thing just crashed. Wouldn't do anything. Even start a new game. LMAO so I downloaded 1.35 and killed 1.31. I'm gonna have to be content on smaller scores and pop for now. Boy was it chaos. :)

An update from Galaxy alpha-omicron

This is an unusual shaped Galaxy in that it's all on about 60% of the map. There is literally one set of four planets in the top right corner and little else on the right half of the map. Should go rather quickly. I've decided to play the wolf in sheep's clothing on this one. I'm about 1/3 the way though. No one will attack me because I've addicted them all to Mrs Smith's Brownies. Of course they have that secret ingredient the Drengin just can't pass up. Torians!!!

We are just about 500 points behind the shoot club. We're on their 6 baby and they can't shack us. Hopefully we can send one right up their tailpipe and pass em soon. Good work Gang. Well I better put on my paper hat and get that game going. Mucho Congrats to Staffa on #1.

Anyone notice on 1.3a the Gigantic map is now only 23 X 23? not 24 X 24. Wonder if it's always been that way or that was a change. I never noticed that before. Difference of 47 sectors.
Gotta love those Torians...for lunch. Oh btw on scoring, I noticed that there was no score difference between Cultural and military in a situation where I had all the galaxy but one planet, and either waited for the sector to flip to me culturally, or invaded it and took it over.

I also used this cheese tactic while trying to go for beyond human in this game. I kept at war with all civs until they flipped culturally. Finally when the last planet came unto my possesion, I gave it back to the AI (Alterians, yuck). They were then at peace with me. How to make war with them? Quick, give them a ship and then attack it! That worked until beyond human, about 20 turns later. The score difference was about 400 or 20%.

Further on the tax rate. Usually i set it high with the problem that my population is very slow to increase. I experimented with decreasing the tax rate by 10% from 42% to 32%, within 12 turns the population increase more than offset the revenue loss. Talk about Reagenomics!
A 20% increase for getting the tech. victory, or a decrease?

Also morale seems to have a more direct affect on pop than tax rate. The higher morale the higher pop.
EB:

Score with Culture victory: 1600
Score w/ Tech victory (20-30 turns later): 2000
Moral was 97% regardless. Tax rate decreased 10% to 32% (between the two victories).
