G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

(cross-post from another thread). Thought it would be a cool topic here.

Tips to being more ruthless:

1) Amass all your ships right next to their (AI)key planets, then invade. Don't piece-mail it and give them a chance.
2) Extortion, extortion, extortion.
3) Don't rely so much on trade. You can extort a similiar amount for the amount you'll get in trade.
4) Use core detonators on a planet, then give it to some AI.
5) Once you completely dominate, give 1/4 of your military to opponent A, and give 1/4 to opponent B. Then let them duke it out. When A takes over B's planets, invade those, since they are easy pickings.
6) Kill your enemy's freighters, since those are their income source, not to mention spys.
7) Build a terror star right next to their core systems, and protect it with several dreadnaughts. They will learn to fear your name!

That's all I can think of. If you have any more ruthless ideas, pass them on. We all can be a little G.R.O.S.S. if we put our mind to it.

A cultural win occurs win you have most of the sectors
under your domination for over a year.

When you culturally flip the last opponants colony
you techinically win by military conquest, not culture.

LMAO we're going to call you Ruthless Rob DeJournett.

I like the Tidal surge option when invading. It destroys improvements only leaving the planet untouched. I'll also use nothing if I have a big edge.

End of quote

Therein lies one of my pet peaves with the game. The Culture bomb being such a powerful tool to victory by "any type". I would like to see a feature that if someone turns off cultural victory, it turns off all culture flipping. Now that would be a challenge. Of course more points should be awarded.

A gigantic is 24 by 24, the counting starts at 0 not 1.

0-23 is 24 sectors.

Ahhhh so 24 x 24 in this game refers to the number of gridlines (counting both outer ends) rather than an actual measurement of 24 across by 24 down.

No, if you have 0-3 apples
Apple 0 is your first apple
apple 1 is your 2nd apple
apple 2 is your 3rd apple
apple 3 is your 4th apple

There is a sector 0,0
That is the first sector, sector 0,23 is the 24th
sector in that row.

There are actually 25 gridlines counting the outer ones

Staffa, embarassing your emperor must be a capital crime in GROSS.

Ahhh so the first sector is zero, zero for 24 total. B

Ray: Nothing embarassing about a question. And just wait till the G.R.O.S.S. Steamroller rolls over your empire while you all watch reruns of Battlestar Galactica :p

Staffa: How's your game coming along.? I'm about midway through now. About to set the culture bomb on the Arceans, then the Yor.

Is that your maso game Pontius? Before my maso game crashed I found it disturbing that the civs won't give me huge sums of money for any trade. :notsure:
My maso game crashed literally. I had it won, then Planets dissappeard, resources disappeared. Game wouldn't even run after that. I had to download the 3.5 Seems to be going ok now. I'm doing a challenging game now. Winning handily.
Pontius, you did have our modded surveyor of doom flash twice before firing the AAMs in the headlights? Got to have some decent road manners when we pass folks up. Oh, I forget. You had to flash twice because that is the trigger for the missiles...

It seems I will be paying my taxes tomorrow. My game is wrapping up. As a bonus, that crashed game of mine that was almost at the end can be submitted after v1.04 becomes available for general stardock users.

Follow the Trail of Dead Aliens is now our motto.

An update on my game: As you know I put on the sheep's clothing for this one. They actually think I'm Goody Goody!!!! Seems the Arceans love Kentucky Fried Drengin. We put them in all our water parks and culture palaces. Seem's they are deserting to us in droves. The last vestiges should be converted soon. Meanwhile. I have set up a colony on a junk heap and set up Torian Sushi houses in my lil ole square in the middle of Drengin space. Soon as a planet converts, I'll lose the class 6 junk heap. Then we will have more supplies for our Kentucky Fried Drengin Franchises. Meanwhile Terraforming is underway. I'm at a trillian pop and climbing. Total Galactic pop is approx 2.5 trillian. I gave the Aliens all the pop boosting wonders as well as the morale boosting specials (keeping the culture and science ones all to myself) My strategy is all the more to convert to the dominant culture, Mine. Game says I'm half way to a tech win. Of course it said only 9% a turn ago so go figure. HEHE. The Altarians are also converting. They and I shared a cluster from the start. The only race not seemingly loving me in droves is the Torians (usually always my nemisis) as they are furthest from me. Should be submittable today. I was trying to get through a game without firing a shot. But alas I couldn't resist. Plus to convert the Yor, I had to smash their influence resource bases. But they quickly sued for peace afterwords.

Go Get em G.R.O.S.S. ers.

P.s. I got the random event that speeds up ships, Got the Gravity accelerators, with the result that my scouts go 13 parsecs a turn!!!. Boy is that fun.

But who is this masked man, fifth who has raced into first place?
Fifth is no longer first, though I cant promise to
keep him out of there if he is intent on taking it
back.

Update on my game: Found myself in a very isolated portion of the map. Good for defense, bad for early trading and such.

Strongest powers are the Drengins and Torians, and they are close to each other. With their diametrically opposite alignments (Torians Pure Evil/Drengins Pure Good), interesting things are soon bound to happen.

We will certainly help them explore the differences between their lifestyles in a creative (and hopefully explosive) fashion. After all, what´s life without a little variety? :)

We hope that, as a result of these celebrations of differences of opinion, the Drengins get clobbered. In which case no one will have an option but accepting us as leaders of the Anti-Torian crusade (unless they want the Torians to eat their skin).
