Is it possible to mod the length of names for planets, ships, and empires so the can be longer.

Indeed. I seem to wind up being a few characters short when I want to name my ship USSS Therapist :)

lmao, oh tell me about it. When I make an advent ship, like a radiance or halcyon. I ALLWAYS want to name it 'Celestial Dawn' but I am exactly ONE letter short. I can only get 'Celestial Daw' lmao. And even then I'd rather name it 'THE (Without caps lmao) Celestial Dawn'. So longer names would be nice.

is there any way to modify a text file, or entity file that contains a list of the names so that ships created will draw from a customized list of names... i mean i know its not much work to rename each ship, but this would seem like a better long term solution.

I'd like this too. Being able to add names from other sci-fi genre's or even real life would be interesting.

All the ship names are in the English.str file, broken down by race, and easily modifiable :)

I still have not figured out how to *add* a list on top of the default 3, though.
