Terrible AI

So I was playing a game where one of the members left. Of course he was replaced by AI. And it was horrible, I personally don't understand what kind of patterns the AI follows but it just seemed completely broken. For instance I ping a target to attack or defense. The AI player has a entire fleet at his disposal but just camps at his planet. Another instance is he actually follows through with orders but when he gets to the planet he immediately turns around and flees only to sit back at his planet again.

And the worst thing I've seen is the AI doesn't rebuild frigates. The enemy bombards one of his planets and frigates. But the AI doesn't even try to rebuild them on another colonized planets. Instead he just calls out for help the entire match, when he isn't helping himself. lol Hopefully, the AI will be worked out. Because I would rather the resources be and planets get split to remaining teammates than to have AI as a ally.

Did you actually pick one of his units and issue him orders, or just use a map ping?

What kryo is getting at is map pings don't do anything for the AI :P

I keep typing instructions and questions to my AI allies and they don't respond? I specifically told them to construct a weapons lab and research wave weapons but they ignored me?

I used punctuation and everything, what gives?

You have to add "please" in the end :P

I ordered the AI to attack the enemies home planet and not only did he do it, he waited for my fleet to start attacking and joined perfectly (He left his front line planet in time that his fleet merged into mine, he had waited for about 10 minutes before that without moving so I'm guessing he was waiting for me but that might just be in my head) We then rolled over the enemy AI which did a fighting retreat all the way to his last planet. The enemy AI would fight the ally AI alone since his fleet wasn't that big but my fleet was made up of every capital ship I could fit into it and about 30 defense ships and 10 cruiser carriers. As soon as my fleet phased into the area the enemy AI ran. This way I kept pushing the fleet back while the ally AI took over the planets. Worked very well, almost like he was a human player.

I never knew you could issue his units orders, I just ping what planet I want him to attack/defend. I assumed since he replied with "right away or acknowledged" that he was going to follow orders. So that puts a end to that issue, but what about the AI not rebuilding frigates? I watched it the entire match, after the enemy destroyed one of their frigates on his home planet. He did not care to build a new one or make new units.
