Metaverse Submission problems
Sorry for the headaches.
Ok people. Before submitting your metaverse problems here, please read through the problems and responses that have already been posted. Or read the Metaverse Guidelines located in the Encyclopedia on this website. Most of the problems being reported are due to user error. Make sure your registration information is correct. That is the number 1 cause of metaverse submission problems.
Also, the website is not an official tech support forum. I have answered almost every single question in this thread. Sorry I have not been able to get back here in the last week. If you want more immediate support then email [email protected]. If you want casual support and do not mind waiting a bit then post a message on the forum. But remember, its a forum, not all messages are read and its possible your message may be missed.
Jeffrey Pinard - It appears that you have recently upgraded from GalCiv to Drengin.net. Please read the Metaverse Guidelines on upgrading your GalCiv Account to your Drengin account (http://www.galciv.com/encyclopedia.asp?action=showpage&page=http://www.galciv.com/metaverse_rules.htm)
Kemal69 - You have not yet registered the player name you are submitting your scores. Please go to the Register Player Page (http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp) and register your player. For more information on the Metaverse and Registering your player please read the Metaverse Guidelines in the Enclyclopedia(http://www.galciv.com/encyclopedia.asp?action=showpage&page=http://www.galciv.com/metaverse_rules.htm)
Russellmz2 - You have been submitting under two different player names, russellmz2 and Experiment 626. You can only have 1 player registered at a time. Please read the Metaverse Guidelines in the Enclyclopedia on more information on player registrations (http://www.galciv.com/encyclopedia.asp?action=showpage&page=http://www.galciv.com/metaverse_rules.htm)
Hurley - Yes, your submissions appear to be working now. There have been no recents code changes to the metaverse so I'm not sure why your submissions started working again. Something client side I presume. Maybe a change you did on your system. Also, as Zoshan is pointing out he has to submit twice so maybe there is an issue with GalCiv connecting. I am forwarding his message on to Cari to have her look at it.
Rob Dejournett - Total lack of support? Get real. If you want support then email us. And actually, Strategy First is technically responsible for support, not Stardock. We have gone above and beyond the call of duty by providing quite a bit of support on the website and through email as well. I'm sorry you are too impatient to wait a few days in an un-official support forum. As far you loading your saved games... either email [email protected] or Cari at [email protected]. And thanks for pointing out Norton Internet Security. As a notice to others. When using any security programs, firewalls, ad blockers, Norton Internet Security etc, please remember these programs are designed to prevent unwanted transmission of data and quite often they will block GalCiv Metaverse submissions as well. Please attempt to disable these programs before submitting Metaverse submission problems.
Desert Fox - "Everyone seems to be ignored and not be helped at all." How can you say that no one has been help. Please go back and re-read this thread.
The D - Anomoulous conditions occur when to much modding has occured that will inbalance the play of the game. There are checks in GalCiv to prevent heavy modding from inflating scores. The scores will by sent to the metaverse with a zero score.
Zoshan - Thanks for posting your work around. I will send this info off to Cari to see if there is anything that can be done on her end.
Drop Bear (and RayChua) - Your account nickname and player name are two different things. Your nickname has nothing to do with the Metaverse. The Metaverse cares about your PLAYERNAME. Most of your scores are submitted under the player name of "Christopher Packer". So in order to see those scores you would need to register that player name. You can change your player name on the player registration page. (http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp). For more information on registration player names please read the Metaverse Guidelines found in the Encyclopedia (http://www.galciv.com/encyclopedia.asp?action=showpage&page=http://www.galciv.com/metaverse_rules.htm)
Parable - Since your problems before were because of your Firewall and/or Ad Blocker I suspect that is probably still the problem. My suggestion is that when you experience problems with submitting to the Metaverse you should temporarily disable them to see if your submission will go through when they are disabled. If they do then you know that the problem is with your configuration. Please configure them to allow galciv.exe to access www.galciv.com.
Cord - You have registered the wrong serial number. Please check your serial number and correct it on the Player Registration page (http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp)
erjugger - Thanks, I will take a look at the good/evil problem.
Jeff Desilva - You have been submitting under two different player names, Jeff Desilva and jeffds. You can only use one registered player name at a time and a game can only be submitted under 1 name. Resubmitting it under a different name will not work. Please read the Metaverse Guidelines in the Encyclopedia for more information (http://www.galciv.com/encyclopedia.asp?action=showpage&page=http://www.galciv.com/metaverse_rules.htm)
eangrist - you have registered the playername "eangrist" but are submitting your scores with the player name of "Anyace". In order to see the scores for Anyace to show up you must change your player name to be that. Use the Player Registration page to do this (http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp). Also read the Metaverse Guidelines for more information on registering player names (http://www.galciv.com/encyclopedia.asp?action=showpage&page=http://www.galciv.com/metaverse_rules.htm)
Parable - I have not received any score data from you since the 16th. I suspect that its a configuration issue on your end. But since the problem is definitely client side its really out of my knowledge area. Please contact Cari for additional support.
D,
I don't know enough about the code to be able to give you an answer. Your best bet is to email Cari at [email protected]. Send you saved game so she can look at it.
Welshman - The reason for your score being different is because in ver 1.04 of GalCiv there was a bug in the way scores were calculated. So upon being submitted to the Metaverse the scores were corrected on the server. The problem is fixed in v1.05. I suggest you upgrade.
Cord - The serial number you are registered with on the Metaverse is different than the serial number that is registered on your system. Using Stardock Central please check your registration number for Galciv. Also, you have submitted scores with the player name of 'Cord Elam' but you are registered using 'Cord'. I suggest you register 'Cord Elam' instead.
Eangrist - You are resubmitting games that have already been submitted under Anyace. So those games cannot be resubmitted under a new player name. (Please referer to the Metaverse rules and guidelines in the encyclopedia). Since all your previous attempts are submitted under Anyace I suggest you register the player name 'Anyace' and use 'Anyace' for all future submissions.
For more information on the Metaverse please read the Metaverse Rules & Guidelines in the Encyclopedia on this site: http://www.galciv.com/encyclopedia.asp?action=showpage&page=http://www.galciv.com/metaverse_rules.htm
