The 'Endgame' and 'Pop'

Just curious.
I see plenty of high scores in the metaverse and I see people on the forums talking about 'endgame' and the size of there population.... I realise that 'endgame' changes on a per-game basis, however It would be nice to know how long games are panning out in terms of years for some of you Veteran Types... And what sort of population size are we talking about total? How high can you go, and what is reasonable to expect for a particular year?

Is it too crazy to ask if anyones documented there population by year....? Could I have a small peak sometime... As long as I'm not interrupting the playing and documenting of course. ;)

Bear in mind that Gigantic/Common maps have 240(give or take... err... a bunch) good planets, and the max population per planet is capped at 100b.

In the last few games I've had, my research and culture-bombing efforts tend to converge at around 2210 (about 380 turns) and around 8 trillion minions (so much skin, so little time). I cheesed out a (non-submitted) game to around 20 trillion by belting the end-turn button ad nauseam, but I really don't think you could get more than about 12 trillion or so without milking it somewhat. Near the end, depending on your empire's population growth stat, you'll probably be getting somewhere around 25b per turn.

Presumably, the points-per-turn penalty starts squashing the points-per-population at some point, I guess at around 2230 or so? I haven't done any research, and don't plan to. The last thing we need is for GalCiv to turn into Stars! :)

My score 2754 - Gigantic, Abudant, 5 Incredible AI with 1.02.042 patch (i was able to send my score only several days ago because of a bug). I has a population of 4008,6 (population of all comps). Then i started a final conqest, i has ~960 population, but even this wasn't really important because of unlimited free production in that path. Military victory, January 2194. (~2 turns to Tech victory).

Second score - 3734 - Gigantic, Abudant, 5 Incredible AI with 1.03.054 patch. 5500 population (again, mostly comps; maybe i send a test save by mistake, i'm not sure now, but it's showed 5500 pop in the score screen anyway). Then i started a final conqest, i has ~1100 population. Military victory, Jul 2199. In the same game i was able to get 5646 score in 2202Jul (~7800 population).

P.S. Population growth is capped - 0.2 population max. So, max population growth = NumberOfPlanets/5

It may be up to +1000 score/year perhaps.

You can expect a well run empire in a good starting position on a gigantic map to maintain a 5% population growth rate for the first 200 turns or so. That translates into passing the 1 trillion population mark sometime in year 2190. The fastest way to achieve victory is generally through cultural domination. I'm quite certain it can be completed within a decade on a gigantic masochist map with a good starting position too.

Ok. Starting competition? We need a save of the first turn. And we need to discuss starting conditions.

How about 5 pure evil? :p
