Hey, That Happened to My Xbox Too!

A few weeks ago I wrote about how my Xbox 360 had a "one ring" system error which basically means the GPU has failed.  Taking a walk through Best Buy yesterday one of my daughters said, "Daddy, that's what happened to our Xbox".  She called me over to the Xbox 360 demo unit and sure enough, the same error as our Xbox had.  I just got a small laugh out of seeing that.

Microsoft seem to be as good manufacturing consoles as they are designing next-gen operating systems.

Go Nintendo and their superior hardware (in terms of quality). ;)

ID - did you wind up sending your box in for repair?

Soon after you had problems with yours mine apparently had sympathy pains and decided that it shouldn't show any video.  Thankfully it was covered under warranty and went back for repair.  Hopefully the repaired box/replacement box will be back in hand on Wednesday (give or take).  I'm still not happy about problems with mine, your's, or anyone else's broken boxes though.

I still expect sooner or later I'm gonna be a winner in the class action lawsuit against Microsoft over all of the problems with these boxes.  I'm sure it'll be some lame settlement where all of the suit participants get 1600 points to spend on the Xbox Live Marketplace, maybe they get a free Xbox Live Arcade game, and perhaps they each get a month of Xbox Live Gold membership while the lawyers get a big fat check.  :(

End of terpfan1980's quote

No, I bought a brand new unit.  I heard from many people who said the repairs are useless and end up sending it back within 3 months.  My unit was old, and it did not have HDMI so that was another reason I wanted a new unit.

Regardless, I will send this one in for repair and stick it in my office.  :)
