Save game gripe

This annoys the hell out of me, but it could be part of game design.

Lately all the genius AIs have been ganging up on me, demanding planets, starting wars etc. I have some previous save games where no one was at war with me (I made a point of doing this) ... but when I reload those save games, some of the races declare war immediately after loading (usually right after the "news" screen pops up, but before the current research screen pops up). I don't even get a chance to bargain with them, and the save game is no good to me anymore.

I think that normally different AI re-evaluate their relationship with you at different times, (based on who they are, the difficulty level, and what you've been doing, for example). When you load a save, perhaps they are all re-evaluating how they feel about you at once...

If so, I reckon it is a bug.

I've read somewhere in this forum that the "re-evaluation at game start" was intentionnally put by Stardock in order to prevent the player to reload an auto-save when in such situations. I'm not sure it was ever confirmed by Stardock.

As for the AI "ganging up on you", it might come from your military threat level. I still have to see an AI declaring war on me when my military might is greater than 2/3 of its (except by event).
Of course, take this supposition with great caution, as this is based only on my experience (about 10 games between Normal and Incredible mostly gigantic/huge)
