FPS locked?

For an early engine test beta, the game runs surprisingly smooth on my machine. I'v had no bugs that were performance related. Except that my FPS flickers between 29 and 30, never more, never less, regardless of the game having just started, or the screen being full of giants and angles and explosions right neer the end. I can be zoomed all the way out or allt he way in and it doesn't change. Every setting is maxed, as is resolution. AA is at 16X (not Q).

In the first game I played, the game hanged for a few seconds 3~4 times, but hasn't done it in the dozens of games since. It's been silky smooth. Here is a partial dxdiag

Turned off vertical sync, still flickering between 29 and 30 all game long, regardless of everything else.

Hmm, that's odd. I don't really know why that would happen. I'll test on low settings right now, and once I get my desktop back I'll test it on your settings.

My supcom was exactly the same, zoomed in it was locked at 30 and zoomed out it was locked at 60. It might be the engine, i think demiod uses the SC engine. After a certain point though you cant tell the difference. I can not see the difference past 30fps

I've been having the same problem, no matter what the fps display always stays around 20-30 fps both in low and high fidelity.

I'd suggest using fraps, that shows the proper fps. This issue doesn't happen with supcom.

Played a few games today and at the end of the last one, when the game stops and the camera pans around, my FPS jumped to 45 and stayed there. Haven't changed any settings.

Sorry, I thought he was asking if there was a fps limit in the engine, I said I think there is one in supcom which uses the same engine. Now I realise he is saying there is a problem with the fps display which I think is correct. I can change the setting from high to low and back again and my fps stays at 16. It is obviously going at more than 16fps because it looks beautifully smooth.

The number that Demigod shows is NOT FPS. It's acutally milliseconds per frame.

thanks for pointing that out NwExilon, it's something i never noticed.

for all those confused by miliseconds and such, divide 1000 by the number DG gives you and you get the framerate... or use FRAPS.
