New Stargate Atlantis aliens? - Furlings maybe?
Hey peeps,
Who are the new aliens in Stargate Atlantis? Maybe Furlings? Anyone have any ideas?
Hey peeps,

I don't know, but that was the most interesting thing to happen to Atlantis in quite a long time. I really hope they don't get rid of them after that episode finishes and keep it up until the end of the series ![]()
Me and you both man, tis a shame that they gonna end it at season 5, bloody Sci-Fi, always ending good shows. Gotta say, cant wait for the next episode, i think they going to reveal who they are, from the way it looks, its like something that looks like an Asgard! ![]()
The Furlings are the other member race of the Alliance (Asgard, Alterans aka Ancients, Nox, Furlings), and Earth Humans (Terrans) are the Fifth Race of the Alliance, as stated by the Asgard in the last episode of SG-1.
Atlantis is going to 2 hour format, direct to DVD, like SG-1 did.
Yeah, which is why I hope they extend the 'weird aliens' plot to the end of the series, that would mean there's a good chance they would make it into the DVD movies.
Because let's face it, they already wore out the fun from the Wraith
For me, it was worn out once Michael became the main bad guy.
If you go to gateworld.net, they have an article that tells you which race it is. I am not going to say it here since it is MAJOR SPOILER. I will give you a hint, look at the way he cocks his head when he says "The device has been activated." You've seen those mannerisms before.
Pfft, reading about it isn't as fun as finding out from watching ![]()
So true...
I thought the Asgard were all gone!
well "technically" they are; these are really just closely related genetic cousins (it HAS been over 10,000 years between the two). Its a shame that they have the same disorder the Ancients had- y'know the whole Megalomaniac Do-No-Wrong Syndrome
It's also a shame the Atlantis writers pretty much defeated them as quickly as they introduced them. They finally came up with a great plot hook in the first episode, and in the second promptly destroyed 2 of their 3 ships (someone please tell me how a scrap heap of a ship that can barely fly managed to destroy 2 Asgard ships given their level of technology..) and their main base of operations.
It had so much potential. Sure they still made off with the key to the device, but they're no longer in much of a position to be a major part of the story.
Great story line to how a group of Asgard came to the Pegasus galaxy but yeh, dont think they will be in it much longer, but cool suits! Still, I agree with Annatar11, how did that heap of space junk destroy 2 Asgard ships. And Todd has turned all evil lol new villan perhaps! Wonder whats gonna happen with Atlantis now, still sucks that SCI-FI have canceled the show, hopefully the DVD movies are gonna rock!
I'm kinda split about this episode. the idea of reclusive, bad asgard is actually quite intriguing and they showed a few nice moves and techs in the first part. but when they show us a race that had a good part before and was fairly proficient at things, they just cannot let them do such horrible mistakes and behave like the classic idiot villains.
however, I don't really believe that ice world was their main base of operations. for that its way too small. for a culture to survive 10.000 years it must take a few more than just a handful of individuals, even with clones. and the technological issue. well, strange, since they showed some advanced stuff like the intraatmospheric jump, the shield penetration, the makeships elevator. but then those weak ships. on the other hand the ships did appear fairly small. I mean a puddle jumper also isnt exactly a match for a wraith cruiser (is it?) even though it has vastly more advanced technology. that, and lets not forget: these guys do not have the 10.000 years of scientific advancement that the main asgard had. not at the same level, not with the numbers and resources they had. as such, it would be pointless to argue why they are not as strong as the asgard were at their hight.
in sum, a few interesting ideas thrown in, would like to see them again in the future with another plan to rebuild their strength. but they should not do those stupid things like leave the prisoners alone, disregard emergency commands, limitations to their battle armour, etc. etc. cold, efficient, ruthless, but intelligent in doing so please, these are not backwater idiots just with guns.
btw, one leads to wonder: when the ancients first activated the device and saw their side effects, why didnt they just prohibit gate travel. were there so many other species then that used them? couldnt they just shut them down? I mean hey, use the device and let the wraith who discovered the effects rot for as long as it takes them to die through hunger and be done with the issue. uncomfortable, but much less than death and defeat.
I think Janus is the one who built the End Game device. Don't forget he was a maverick, and chief scientist on Atlantis.
pfft...asgard...we are gods.
Keep in mind these asgards are not as advance because they were not around for the replicator war. So actually an upgraded human ship is more powerful and technologically advance because it uses the epitome of asgard tech which was vastly improved in the replicator war
They specifically said that the ice world was not their main base, and their ships ARE 10,000 years old.
Wasn't the human ship that took them out though, it was the ship put together from scrapyard junk ![]()
Not Earth Human (Terran), but, humans still. With enough jerry rigging to make Selenka (spelling?) whine like Rodney McKay. The group is called the Travellers. I record on Friday night and a friend and I watch on Monday late afternoon.
The Travellers still have farily decent ships- they only lost one against the Replicator fleet of Aurora-Class Battlecrusiers. So I'd say they are prolly one par with Prometheus-level technology, but def. behind Asgard/Daedalus level.
yea but we cant assume that these asgard didnt, while pushing their evolution problem behind them, didnt also build great ships like our asgard did. dont forget these asgard had all that time while the ancients and the wraith fought it out so we dont know what they built or how many worlds they may have civilizations on.
Except they pretty specifically said they were lying very very low because they don't have near enough ability to put up a fight with the Wraith, who would basically annihilate them as soon as they were discovered since the Wraith don't put up with other advanced technologies.
So these Asgard having many bases would more or less directly go against what was said by one ![]()
If you had listened to what the asgard said you would know that they cannot build more ships this is what he said:
Asgard: We lost our intergalactic ships in the first battle and we did not have the resources to build more
thats if u totally trust these asgard at their word. they were perfectly fine wit letting millions of humans die across the galaxy. so these obviously arent like our asgard and probably not as noble to their word. they could have a few more of those ancient bases liein around, not many maybe 2 or 3 where the wraith havent found them and their new planet may hold a decent size of their population.
Well, the asgard that spoke with Daniel was very forthright about their problems, and their reasoning about the Alteran Device: Their survival matters and nobody else's does. That sets the tone for further encounters.
Good thing this show is ending. Don't get me wrong, I loved SG-1 and Atlantis. They're my two favorite TV shows. But Atlantis should have been cancelled after season 4, when it started to die down and get repetitive. Not to mention the fact that in 5 seasons they already killed off as many characters as SG-1 did in ten. Of course, the movies should bring along exciting plot ideas that couldn't be done in the TV shows, like with Ark of Truth and Continuum.
