No game improvement posts this time... Post your favorite map scenario and why.
Here's mine:
Map size: gigantic
Stars: tight clusters
Planets: rare
Alien races: random
Government: Universalists with some extra luck, creativity, trade routes & economy
I love this game style best because it seems to propose the biggest challenge for me so far. I like not knowing what the aliens are like. I like the big map for obvious reasons (longer game play). I like the clusters because it allows me to "defend my home turf" so to speak...I'm very territorial when I play. I usually surround my little corner of stars with a wall of starbases which provides ooodles of defense and trade/economy bonuses. I choose rare for the planets to make it harder for everybody to advance. (It makes the game move slower) I choose the Universalists because I feel they represent humans best (adaptation and a little of everything). I choose the bonuses listed above because you can never have enough trade routes, social projects can not give you luck or creativity, and added economy contributes to everything else of your choice in the game (military, social, diplomacy, whatever you want).
