It is my pleasure as a new senator of the MWC to congratulate all good peeople of fertile lands with incredible success that our empire achieved in the recent past.

We are not the fastest growing empire but the quickest to rise in ratings. Opportunities are excellent for new (and seasoned) players to make their mark on the face of Metaverse.

We are not asking anyone to defect from other respected empires. We are asking people of midlands (of North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, Japan, all islands) to join MWC. If desire to help a real and noble cause will regretfully make you leave existing empire so be it. Be strong in your true aligence.

We defeated G.R.O.S.S, others are shaking seeing MWC make it's way up.

Celebrate if you are an MWC member. Join us and we shall go together to the glorious future of the Mid Western Confederation.

AFAIK, the statbot was made completely by hand, from scratch (except the pie charts), by idle and kasualkid.

Yup.

With some perl code, and permission from Stardock, the MWC's very own KasualKid wrote a fantastic script to mine the top 25 empires and the top 100 independants.

He is also the one who put together the database structure using mYSQL.

With lots of help from GreenReaper and Kjartan on the #galciv IRC channel I was able to put together what you see here http://idle.thehueys.com/midwest/empireapp.php

These pages were created entirely in 'vi' on a Mandrake 9.0 linux box.

I had full intentions of getting a game in this weekend as well as working on the stat machine, but real life had other plans for my time.

I hope to add some more data to the script like last weeks data and last month, plus some bar graphs depicting games over time, per version or morality.

If you have any ideas please post them :)

i just had a far fetch idea for a different way of scoring empires against each other, and wanted to try out how it would look :)

but i hardly have any coding experiense, so i guess is was hoping that you had answered Access or Excel....although deep down i probably knew it was going to be that simple (:(

The metaverse gods have smiled upon me!

For no readily apparent reason my score increased by nearly 20,000 points at some point this afternoon!

Where the boost came from I have no idea, especially since I haven't submitted anything since Saturday...

Regardless, as long as the boost stays, I'm only 2 or 3 games away from the number one evil ranking in the metaverse!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

I've put in a couple gig masos but the time investment just isn't really worth it IMO... though with the scoring boosts in 1.11 you should be able to come very close if not to 60k with a huge maso now. And a large can still net you 45k, which is not bad by any means...

Started a painful/gigantic last night (on 1.11) - noticed two things:

1) the Yor colonized a PQ 14 planet :SURPRISED:

2) they got really agitated when I planted a culture mod on a starbase in that sector :SURPRISED:

Also, it was really easy (inexpensive) to get various races to fight each other, but really difficult (expensive) to get them to not fight me. :sniff!:

I should add also that the minors are very aggressive at getting trade goods and galactic wonders - just seemed kinda weird after playing maso and crippling and having to fight the major AI's for this stuff.

Sorry I got busy at work right at this critical time. Couldn't play at all. Maybe now I will get a few games in. We had to present our designs for exterior elevations to the owner today so I have been putting in 50+ hour weeks getting the presentation together. The good news is it went over well.

I really don't have much time to play during the week. I'll try to get a couple good games in over the weekend. I noticed that culture flipping seems far far easier in the latest version. i don't know what they did, but I was flipping planets without even trying. It was kinda weird.

I don't mind it when the AIs go after the TGs, since they're way more willing to sell them to you! :)

Well I guess I'll chime in here too.

RL has me by the shorties. I haven't gotten a game in almost a month!

I'm not even going to say I'll try and get a game in this week or weekend :(

I am working on the statbot in my spare time at work though :D

Well, 'bout the only thing I can suggest is start a game and play a bit at a time. I do that. I know it is not as fun as sitting for the whole event, but at least you get some time in.

My latest game has spanned 3 days so far.

Since I do live in the Mid-west, I went ahead and joined your empire - which has put the Mid-West Confederation into 2nd place for the moment. I won't be playing in the upcoming weeks quite as much as I have this past month, but I figured I may as well let my scores contribute. Happy gaming to all!

Welcome aboard Gyb. This past month has been one of the most turbulent in the Metaverse. Your presence in the MWC will hopefully help us stablize our base and push on to #1. As Idle said please feel free to browse over at the home base (hmmm should we call it the Barn).
