Cheap basic espionage?

So has anyone else used the diplomacy interface as a way of doing some cheap espionage? After all, it shows you every home system, starbase, and ship they have whether you've discovered them or not.

Seems a little cheap, nu? Maybe there should be a fuzz factor there.

Oh, also shows you their tech level. If it's on the right side, they have it and you don't. On the left? vice versa.

AGH! Maybe those things should not be tradeable/visable until you've spied on them or actually seen the planets (where the ships are) in question... though that sounds like a difficult bit of work to hand Brad.
