TTDAY2K9 :year of the beserker

And so it came to pass that in the year 2009 
a Thumper from the Order Of The Black Dragon 
would go rogue. He would break his blood oath  
and thump a troll before Troll Thumping Day. 
Because of this violation of the most sacred  
of laws handed down to thumpers for generations,  
a call would go up, uniting both man and troll. 
The search for the 'Beserker' would begin with a 
single clue he left behind. His family crest.

And word went out across the land
and Troll and man did harken
A beserker had revealed himself
and the very sun did darken
All stood breathless and in mourning
waiting for a sign
until a voice cried out 'No more!'
'Revenge for thee and thine!'
In the depths of Wicklow Mountain
man and Troll agreed
to forge a truce and to bring
the Beserker to his knees.

And so, with evidence in hand, a squad of man and troll 
was dispatched to bring in the Beserker.

All knew the crest upon the cross
left dangling at the scene
and guards were sent to the house
that bore that very seal
Confused he was, in manacles
the Beserker was brought forth
and presented with the evidence
in the hall of Tunga-Horth
'Twas not I!' he shrieked
"I've upheld me oath!'
'Framed I've been and framed I'll be
by the scoundrel Po!'

And on the Eve of Thumping Day there was an Inquisition. And into the Inquisition there came forth a witness, Zubaz The Mad. His words would condemn the Beserker forever. 

A Faerie of the Inquisition

was summoned to the hall

and brought with her the Book of Judgement

to be signed by one and all

She asked them all for a witness

and one pushed through the crowd

Zubaz the Mad had come forth

and to the Faerie bowed.

All rolled their eyes, Troll and Man,

for insane poor Zubaz be,

struck on the head as a child

he now chanted "It be I, be me!'

The Inquisitor did her best

to confirm what Zubaz saw

but he just pointed at poor Skinhit

and said 'I see, I see, I saw!'

Skinhit in defiance shrieked

'He can't even spell his name!'

Yet the Inquisitor had heard enough

and swift her judgement came.

"Your crest upon the cross,

your own brethren calls you out,

banished for a year to Nod

because you broke your vows!'

She raised a hand and all stood still

as Skinhit howled in fear,

as Zubaz shrieked "I saw, I see, be I, be me!"

and Skinhit disappeared.

What's this?!

With Skinhit banished off to Nod

for one year and a day

all began to leave the hall

for it was Thumping Day

As the last man made to leave

something caught his eye

His hand upon the book he layed

and read and realized.

He recalled Sir Skinhit's final words

"He can't even spell his name!"

Zubaz was the true Beserker

and they had erred in their blame

For the briefest of a moments moment

he thought to call them back

But instead he smiled and whispered softly

'I still hate you, Jack'
