[Suggestion] Ignore all option

For those of us who hate our fellow internet players

Seems to be the closest forum for this idea.

What: I would like to have an option built in that allows me to automatically ignore EVERYONE, or just enemies and/or allies (communicate via map pings). Maybe add an icon beside the player name to indicate that they are ignoring everyone. It would be even better if I could have this automatically enabled when I sign in if I choose to.

Why: I don't like to chat with my fellow players unless they are in the same room with me, mainly 'cause I can waltz over and..... do something I shouldn't to them when, not if, they mouth off at me for winning or being better; such as my extensive online experiences ending roughly two years ago, along with almost all my desire to play online. Unfortunetly for me, when I encounter someone who is acting like a delinquet, it kills all the desire I built up to play online instantly and for, well, going on 2 years now since my last one. This option would allow me to confortably play Demigod with others over and over again, and not experience this kind of crap that was so predominate in my old multiplayer trials.

And I do NOT want to hear any "welcome to the internet" and "toughen you skin moron!" garbage, it only helps keep me offline, and one less player for you to stomp.

If they allow UI mods, you can easily do something like this yourself. Otherwise I doubt it's likely you will see any feature like this.

I figured that to be the likely case, but still worth a shot :)

I support this idea.

More than once in recent history, I've had a strong desire to play a match of Left 4 Dead, or any other multiplayer-focused game, but found myself put off by the idea of having to socialize with potentially strange Internet-people in order to get that intruiging and challenging multiplayer experience. That's not to say that I'm totally antisocial. Some of my fondest MP memories are of me laughing my head off with a team of complete and utter strangers. It's just that there are times when I'd prefer to simply sit down, and play the game in question, rather than spend my time and energy dealing with the social aspect.

That said, this feature would run the risk of creating a strong rift between players who "Ignore All" and players who do not. ("Damn that snooty IgnoreAll player! If he would've unpluged his/her godforsaken ears, we actually would've been able to organize a winning strategy!") But if there were a second optional feature incorporated with this one, whereby players could specify whether or not they prefered to be matched with people who have the "IgnoreAll" feature turned off... Well, that'd just avert that issue entirely. High fences do good neighbors create.

I love that second optional feature Luminance!

GPG, I, as a paying customer, demand this feature! Or I will still have bought the game and not play online }:)

I got the perfect idea for you that will make this feature totally unnecessary. You find a few guys who just like you hate talking to people when playing online, you all can then create a game and all join it for an awesome game of no-chat-at-all just every-one-mind-themselves game experience.

And the best part is that all you have to do is tell your friends to join your game, you should probably un-ignore them on MSN Messenger first though but dont worry, you can ignore them again as soon as they are in your game.

P.S you can also fix this by letting me recode your menu LUA to disable the multiplayer button, just PM me and I get it done in 3 min.

Unfortuently, that only works when people like me actually get a game together beyond random chance; it's never happened in my experience. As for MSN, mine is nearly empty, and none of the very select few on it have, or even want Demigod; they like WoW and Sims2 (at least on Sims2 you stick the guys you don't like in a room without a toilet for a month).

Thanks for the offer for disabling the multiplyaer, but that would have the rather wanted side effect of disabling all ability to play until singleplayer is enabled ;)
