Damigod - Unable to Start, Cannot create Direct3D

Everytime I try to launch Demigod it says it is unable to start, that it cannot create Direct 3D.  It also suggests I make sure I have the latest video drivers running, which I do.

I have an 8800 GTX and 2 gigs of RAM.

If anyone has a solution it would be much appreciated.

Same Problem here, running on Win XP SP3, GF 8800 GT (Driver Version 182.08), 4 GB RAM.

The Beta ran fine, last time I tried was sometime in Beta 3.

download the latest drivers if you havent. it said the same thing to me. I read somewhere on demigod that often the latest drivers fix this issue so I did and it worked..

Of course I have the latest drivers running.  It still isn't working.  I have gone through all of the suggestions I could find on the Demigod forums and none of them worked.  My computer can easily handle a game like this so it is more than a little frustrating that I just wasted $40 on a game that won't even launch.  And the issue appears to be getting zero attention what with all of the other problems that plague the game so it is made even worse.

Try the latest BETA drivers.

The latest BETA drivers are older than the latest release drivers.

I have the same problem and have not found a Fix... I have only been able to play the game once!

I had the same problem and here's how I solved it:

Go to my documents > my games > gas powered games > demigod, open the "game.prefs" with my editor, hit CTRL+F and look for "primary_adapter" and change the value to '1024,768,60',

that's how I managed to solve the problem.

Oh wait... Deleting everything in My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod\ Fixed it for me. Editing the file did not work because it already had those settings.

Ok, I reset the settings but the reason it happened in the first place was that I brought my machine to a buddy's for a lan party.  He has an old 19 crt that I plugged into and that's why it wouldn't do the 1600 x 1080 resolution.  So, I at least know why it happened but shouldn't the software recognize that this happened?

Anyhow up and running again.

This fix worked for me too. Had to manually edit the file to set it to a lower resolution on a different monitor. (LAN party.) Thanks for the help!

Hopes Stardock gets an autodetect soon.

Your issue may be a bit different than the resolution settings in the Game.Prefs file.  That integrated-chipset video adapter does not meet the minimum requirement to run Demigod: 128 MB 3D Video Card (ATI Radeon X1600 / Nvidia GeForce 6800 or better)
