Please, please tell me what how these ship commands work!

I cannot find any guide or information on what the following commands do or more precisely how they work.

I'd also like to have a convoy follow my trade route freighters to protect them. Can one of these commands do that?

1. Auto Sentry
2. Sector Sweep
3. Auto Attack

Auto sentry and auto guard keep your ships inactive unless another ship (sentry mode) or enemy ship (guard mode) comes into their sector/sensor range.

Sector sweep makes your ship do laps around the borders of a sector.

Auto attack is similar to guard, with your ship attacking enemies when it spots them.

I guess you can use the above to acomplish what you want ... put ships along your trade routes, and set them to auto attack. You will probably have to manually reposition them after any skirmishes though.

Ahh that's an excellent idea!

I never figured out the blue arrow on the ship list screen. Whenever I click on it, it seems to move the wrong ship, or move it to the wrong place.

The little blue arrow will send that ship in the list to the center of wherever the camera is currently positioned.

If you are talking about what I think you are, clicking the arrow next a ship listing will sent that ship to the sector you looking at in the main view. It could be you are experiencing a bug if that is not what is happening for you.
