Connection problems at college

I just wanted to let you know that no one at my college can connect to one another.  We are not sure if it is our networks fault or something more on your end.  I just wanted to give you a heads up and if there were any tips on how to rectify this situation or if I should just be patient and wait for a patch.  Ive tried connecting to about 6 of my friends and roommates so it isnt just my problem none of us can connect to any game the others are part of.

Thanks

It's most likely because of the Peer to Peer nature of the connections and the ban on Peer to Peer connections that your college probably has (most of them do, to prevent piracy via torrenting and other p2p networks). Most games use a client/server hosting setup, where all clients connect to one server and communicate back and forth; the P2P system allows players to connect directly to one another and, theoretically, helps to improve performance in real time.

Honestly, not sure if there's any way aroudn this. I'm fortunate enough to live off campus =P

I agree with Ren, it sounds like a simillar problem another forum-goer had with his University's network. When the reflection, or Proxy, servers go out it should fix this problem for you and your friends.

Have you tried playing over LAN, or using the network programs Hamachi or Game Ranger? These third-party programs are fixing simillar problems for other Demigod users, you should look into them.

Best of luck.

The point is we wanted to play together against other people.  I actually live in an apartment complex that happens to be next to my university.  My friends seem to be able to set up other peer to peer networks in order to share file but maybe demigod works differently.  Im sad that it might be my end because im not sure I can ever get to play with them online now.

Sharing files around your pre-existing network, i.e. you to one of your college-based friends, wouldn't have the same effects as, say, sharing with someone from Finland and so you wouldn't notice the throttling of your network data.

Being as you are all experiencing this problem it appears you'll need to wait for the Proxy Servers to be set up in order to play online. Don't worry, I'm in your boat too.

In the mean time, in order to play online with your friends, you should be able to use Hamachi or Game Ranger, and using Google find exiting Hamachi networks, to connect and play with other people online as, in lay terms, they fool your computer into thinking it's in a network when it's really just connected to the internet. Game Ranger, in particular, uses Proxy Servers so this would probably be the better of the two programs for you and your friends. Just note that there is a massive community of pirates on these programs and it can take a little while to find legit users like yourselves.

Give this a try, it should let you play online against others at least.

Sometimes I think about getting a pirated copy so I have more people to play against =P
