What artifacts should you go for as Sedna?

Hey all,

I've been focusing on a heal spec Sedna lately and I'm wondering what artifacts I should generally go for.

I've been reluctant to get the Mage Slayer for example because she isn't exactly the queen of DPS. And generally if I try to wait til' I have the 14,000+ gold for the later tier artifacts the game is already over.

So: For a heal spec Sedna or just any Sedna build in general, what artifacts should I go for?

I usually end up spending all my gold in the citadel because I have no clue what artifact I should get for her. This doesn't always end well, as if I'm up against a UB and he gets an artifact and I don't, the game is generally over.

Thank you!

Bulwark of Ages, with the huge defensive boost of 25% global damage reduction you will have to heal yourself much less often  allowing you to keep more allies alive and you will be a complete pain to finish off.

you should get catapults and end the game

if you get alot of cheap items and fill your slots it's better than just 1 artifact plus cheaper

You can win the game off of less than 10,000 gold in basic items. Spend all your extra gold on citadel upgrades. Artifacts rarely win the game, and if you are in the postion to buy one and do not have giants yet, then you're doing something wrong.

Unless it's a Fortress game on Exile, where war score takes forever to gain, then an artifact is useful, but will not turn a game around really, because like I said before, if you can afford artifacts and aren't about to win, something went wrong.

I wrote the guide to duelist sedna, so my playstyle is different.

That said, I usually buy 1 or 2 items at the start and then 3 crowns from the regular shop. Then I save up for the 16k gold it takes to upgrade the citadel from nothing to giants, and this usually wins the game. Even catapultasauri can do it for 10k if you are low on cash.

If you are considering buying something from the artifact shop, it should usually win you the game. Most of the items in there won't.

Ashkandor is amazing and the most cost effective choice even at 18k. It will win the game against some opponents.

I've never once purchaed an artifact as either Sedna or QoT.  Once I have my basic mid-range items, I usually pour everything I have into citadel upgrades, and the game ends before I have to consider artifacts.  If I had to pick one, I'd have to agree with Bulwark.  Yes, there are some great artifacts for damage dealing out there, like Ashkandor and Mageslayer, but Sedna just isn't a damage dealing hero.  You'll get better bang for your buck out of citadel upgrades for an early game push.

Ah, well, the reason I was wondering was I just played an UB where all I did was buy citadel upgrades, and I got smoked.

It was me vs. him (plus 4 AIs on each team) and I dumped everything I had into the citadel. He got items and an artifact, and proceeded to farm the AIs. There was little I could do to stop him from killing the AIs, as he was just as fast as me (if not faster) and I was busy guarding flags or healing the other AIs.

By the time we were in the end game, he had gotten a lot more gold than me, and even though he had more junk from citadel upgrades to push through, he ended up winning the game by dumping all the gold he had gotten from kills into superior upgrades in his citadel. I proceeded to lose the game after being overwhelmed on all sides.

It's situations like that where I think it would be good to get an artifact. Sedna just isn't really all that great at farming DGs when you compare her to a properly specced and itemed UB.

As a matter of fact, I've played a couple games that were similar to the above scenario, with the unclean beast ultimately getting really good items and becoming unstoppable late game. Most of the time when this happens I lose, because I have no idea how to counter it.

Thanks for all the replies!

Aegis yes, its nice on sedna.
@ZerathulTheDT2
Try to hold off the minion upgrades till the last moment to deny the opponent experience and ultimately killing power. If its only 1 demigod thats raping everybody, try smashing a few towers while he is busy elsewere. After you smashed a few towers and stuff and have created an open path you can buy the giants and win the game.
BTW you are an Assassin, assassins generally try to buff themselves and generals buff the army. Dont take this as an apsolute though, it kinda depends on the situation. And also, practise practise practise!!

I see a lot of people saying that sedna can't do damage, and she can't farm demigods.

I will agree that she is weak against minions and creep waves, but she is probably the best 1v1 class if you build her right. Especially against UB she can completely nullify spit. Pounce is one of the highest damage instant cast spells in the game as well.

I buy ashkandor and drop it for my team's regulus.

Sonolegolas: he was playing sedna "against" an UB.

The problem was THAT. An Unclean Beast that is allowed to get kills and gold will spell doom for you. An artifact wouldn't have really helped you, since he'd get Mage Slayer and Ashkandor, hitting at 0.5X for 400-500's plus crits and drain. You probably should have gone for a DG killer instead of the support ones. It can be done, but I think it's unfair advantage, since he can get those AI kills faster than you can.

In general I'd say when you only have bots as teammates you shouldn't be playing a support role. You won't be able to effectively prevent your enemy from farming the bots so you have to do the same in order to keep up.

I had a similar game against a Torchbearer.  I was able to mostly defend my AIs from him and keep up with him on kills -- I was actually ahead for most of the game as I recall -- and my better staying power meant we had better control of flags.  I hit War Rank 10 while he was still around 6 or 7 and I was starting to accumulate artifact levels of gold, and so I did what I do when playing with humans: I sold some gear (Godplate) and bought giants.  We controlled both neutral portals, and I figured that giants would end the game pretty fast.  Big mistake.  I don't understand how he did it, but somehow he stopped my giants for long enough to buy his own giants, then started pushing my entire team back.  Before long I had giants coming from all directions and there was nothing I could do about it.

I say that it mattered that I wasn't playing with humans, because with humans I could have launched a concerted attack on one of his portals and locked it down while he was dealing with my giants.  Instead, my AI wandered around aimlessly and let him and his AI allies score endless kills, while I got killed trying -- and nearly succeeding -- to ninja his portal on my own (the Beast AI walked up and Foul Grasped me when I was 75% of the way through casting the lock!  Why couldn't it have used Spit instead?  Why are my AI allies never that smart?  :'( ).

He didn't have that many more kills than me, and most of them came at the end when things were getting tough for us, but I'm pretty sure he was carrying at least one if not two or three artifacts, and it made it impossible for me to go anywhere near him.  I think that when I got to 8,000 gold I should have just kept exploiting his AI for money, either to buy giants without selling anything, or to get some decent artifacts (Bulwark, maybe) to keep up with his attack power.
