How long until the free expansion is ready for beta?

Please don't hurt me! I saw Brad said June it'd be available as beta for those with the drenginet upgrade thingy. I'm just wondering if it's going to be real soon, because if it is, then I'll need to upgrade!

Thanks Stardock!

I think it's soon...depends on Brad, I guess.  THere's always going to be features we could continue to put in, but I'd say the meat of the new features are in and working (rally points, tech tree screen - now with bonuses ;), hyperlinks in the trade screen, locks on economic sliders, ect) Right now Cari's working on Embargos, I'm working on UP Issues and Random Events, and Brads busting out some Linked Events (If he's found time lately between pressing Object Desktop matters).  Anyhoo...as early as the end of this week, as late mid-June (If guessing earlier, though, since Beta testing is a seriously time-consuming matter).  Perhaps tomorrow I can post some screenies of the new stuff...if Brad dosen't mind :)  (I dont know what he want's to keep as a suprise)

I'd say next week. We have to get the 1.04 stand alone build out the door first and stand alone builds have to go through STrategy First before they can go up.

Does anyone else get this great temptation to upgrade to Drengin.net? :)

Already gave in to that one :D

I suspect getting to play with the expansion weeks or even months earlier is going to get even more people to fall for Brad's insidious marketing genius. Internal security issues, yeah, that's what it is ;)

"Intelligence reports that Stardock is destabilising Galcivers are being hotly denied."

Skull and crossbones have just appeared on my planet. :)

I already did too.

Say BoogieBac, will there be hyperlinks to tech info from the trade screen? I usually keep my mac on javascout's page while I'm playing to look up what etchs do.

Yep.

And remember, the beta is just the start of what's going to be in there. There will be a lot of new stuff in Beta 1 of the expansion pack but more stuff will be in beta 2 and more stuff still in beta 3 and so forth.

Yea, I bowed to pressure and upgraded to Drengin when they had that $10 off special a while back. Figured it would be worth it for 3 reasons:

1) Get Gal Civ beta's early plus all other of their games for free (along with Political Machine coming soon)

2) Help Stardock with some additional moola.

3) The screen shot from E3 of that RPG (Elemental?) that is coming down the pike and if it makes it during my sub I get it free!

The minute I see the beta was posted to Drengin.net - then I'll upgrade ;p

Can you tell I'm finally learning the bribery diplomacy from Galciv?? HEHE! I hope it works here, cause usually the AI is too smart to fall for my antics in the game! :)

Although this one time, I was wittling down the Drengins, and I'd been battering them for ages for their techs, and after bashing them a while they finally gave into my demands. It was so sad, cause next turn I wiped them out anyways ;p ;p ;p

Yes. It is mad but yes.

I mean, I actually think of paying $30 to get a beta of an update some weeks before I could get it for free... I most have lost my mind. ;)

It's not just getting the beta but also everything Stardock puts out for the next year. I seem to remember something about "Political Machine". I am kind of anxious to see that one. That being said I upgraded to get the beta. ;)

Thanks Brad.

I missed the coupon bit, but I don't care when it is something I really want to support financially. *shrug*

As a programmer I should know better than to pay extra for BETA! but... ;)

Okay Stardock, Brad I am sold I will be joining Drengin.net now. I am a Galciv junkie and saying only Drengin.net members can mess with it? Wow that is an insanely perfect marketing plan to have. Get everyone hooked on Galciv, then dangle the update in front of them, uh oh you need to join drengin.net! LOL It works great I am going to do it. :D

You also get some other nice programs that I've found entertaining. Stellar Frontier and The Corporate Machine are excellent.

This was taken from the Drengin web site about the upcoming games to be put out.

Elemental

Visit the magical land or Arnor where you take up the role of one of the 6 Mithrilar who are battling for control of this world. Research spells, summon creatures in this game that could be described as a bit like Master of Magic meets Magic the Gathering.

Galactic Hijacker

The robotic race of The Yor are sending a fleet of star ships to destroy Earth. Unfortunately, Earth has no space military. But one thing can stop the evil Yor -- their ships are completely run by machines. We have managed to take over a level 1 drone unit on their capital ship. You must now destroy all the remaining robots on the ship through a combination of fighting skills and hacking. This fast paced action game will keep players on their toes. Inspired by the classic game, Paradroid.

The Political Machine

The best person to lead the free world is your candidate. You must help help get your candidate elected President of the United States. Choose his basic philosophies at the beginning of the game and then launch your campaign. Campaigner will take you across the USA as you raise money, debate issues, propose policies. Each state's data will update in real time based on the most recent actual exit polls from previous elections so that your political views and policy initiatives will result in accurate responses from the real electorate. Designed by the creator of Galactic Civilizations, Campaigner is a must-have for any political junkie.

Mobilization

The ultimate real time strategy game where you take command of a culture early in its development and must work to ensure its survival and eventual dominion over a world. Using the latest in 3D technology, players truly build their own civilization. The game focuses more so on political and cultural construction of your civilization than one normally sees in these kinds of games. A wide range of new game mechanics not before seen will help make this one of the most unique real time strategy games ever. The speed of clicking takes a back seat to ones ability to mobilize their society to face mortal challenges.
