Frogboy please read this (it's a good thread)...

Idleprocess wrote this in antoher thread and I could not but feel like he'd taken my own thoughts right out of my mouth...

BTW Frogboy, don't let all the negative (the AI's cheating!) threads get to ya, I couldn't be happier with the game even in it's initial release status. You and the team are doing a fantastic job and I just wanna say thanks Keep up the great work,

I feel the exact same way... The people complaining aobut cheating are nitpicking, should go talk to the "Heroes of Might and Magic developers" (who are now in Chapter 11 bankruptcy). THAT game cheated like crazy. On Normal difficulty the game gave the AI tons of extra resources/gold, and even if they were down to their last castle, they could still outproduce you with 30 castles. That game had pathetic AI, and this game has probably the best AI of any game on the market. You did an amazing job - the naysayers obviously don't know how difficult it is to do the whole package... This game puts Civ3 AND MOO3 to shame. So please keep that in mind when continuing on this that 99.999% of those that bought it are exceptionally happy with the game. One of the best aspects for me is the diplomacy :) something Sid Meier has never gotten right...

Somehow, amazingly, all those bugs got fixed, some serious, some trivial, without users behaving abusively or ranting at us about them.

I think this only shows you, Frogboy, that you can't assume that just because people haven't complained about something before, that it isn't a serious bug. Nor can you assume that because hard core folks are complaining, it's not serious...

SirBruce: Ultimately, the development team decides what is an important bug or not since we are, after all, the ones who have to address it. The tech issue we have determined needs to be looked at but it is not a top priority issue. You are free to disagree. But for good or ill, since we do the coding, the final decision rests with us.

Being in the government contract industry, I do see how the resource thing comes into play. You have only so many resource hours to accomplish this, that and the other thing, and you have your Defects list, which you would likely do the Sev 1s and 2s, and 3s if you get the chance (this tech thing is probably a 3 by the sounds of things) So I know how that plays out.

Some people lost sight of this sometimes (myself included... and considering my day job, I should know better than this)

I'm a firm believer that Frogboy and the rest of the crew are on a journey to develop the "perfect" game.

This is a game in a dynamic state of constant evolution. Stardock began with a good idea and put it into effect. What sets them apart from the rest???

Stardock, much like in-game Terran civilization, are reckless, adaptable, the gaming equivalent of a democracy, and not intimidated by others that have been around for much longer than themselves.

Kudos to Stardock...

I love the game. I think the game will sell even to people that hate it simply because of that Howard Stern love/hate relationship.

"You never know what they're gonna do next!"

Well, the man has spoken. Now rest the topic, please!

I just wanted to say on behalf of, what I think is the vast majority of GalCiv players, that I don't care how much, if at all, the AI is cheating! I just want to play the game and have fun, which I do. So stop nagging Frogboy and let him do his job, which he does terribly good!

Well, I have nothing original to add to this discussion. But I'll add my 2 bits worth anyway. From my perspective, each and every thing that I thought could be improved on in this game, has been, in one form or another. Other things which I really hoped would be added, such as the different tables for map size, have been added. Things I didn't think about, like the faces for one's alignment, have been added. A free expansion pack!! (is this business going to go broke or what??). The support for the game, from obviously *nice* people like CariElf, has been great (I mean even her MOTHER has posted!). As others have said, where-else do you read posts of a very human nature from the Boss who owns a frog called 'cuddles' or something? Where else is there such an interesting Message Board with interesting people (albeit I have rolled my eyes at the tone of some posts). And an ACCESSIBLE ranking and Empire system. I mean, the WHOLE EXPERIENCE has been fun. I will be playing this game for a long, long time- and am really looking forward to Galciv 2! Now if we can all just sing Kumbaya together before Pontius arrives with the Zorcher raygun...

CM - I made a big mistake... One of the stupid "cheating" threads I thought was written by you, was actualy written by someone else. I went back to cross reference, and realized your thread had been right on top of his. Sorry about that.

I think we can agree on that. Let's just let the matter drop. I don't think any good can come from discussing it further. We've laid out our positions pretty clearly at this point.

You see Frogboy? this is why I respect you so much, I cant beleive how calm you remaind even after he went on a rant like that. *claps*

But I must get back on track, I totally Agree with What the first post in the topic Says, This amount of Great Support you guys give to make your game great (and it shows!) Is astounding, It every game maker was as awsome as you are about this, There would be a hell of a lot more Great games Like Galatic Civ out on the market. I dont get how people can complain sooo violently, Just say it once people and they'll listen.

;) :)

We always have room for more foolishness in that thread, yes. All you need is love - and some Prozac.
