2 x UB is pretty insane...but....

JUST got this game tonight via 50% discount code (took me forever to actually join a game btw). Me (Sedna) and a Oak vs 2 x UB in Pantheon on Leviathon.

They just continually hunted me down with spit, ooze, foul grasp, which would result in me dying. It also doesn't help that my partner got priests early and gave them lots of XP.

Eventually, they got to level 20 while we are still stuck at level 11. BUT! They never upgraded any citadel stuff (it seems) and we had catapults going and had the two portals in the middle. Even though they killed us each and everytime they saw us, we continued to upgrade our reinforcements and our catapults owned their citadel!

Man i love this game! UB's...DENIED! ^_^

That's awesome.

I was teaching my friend to play last night. I told him that the point of the game wasn't to kill every demigod you see. He was surprised. I said the goal should be to dominate your lanes so you can level up, farm gold, and control flags. Kills are nice but don't win the game for you. Controlling the map should do that, but you have to spend your gold right.

This game has a lot more long term strategy than you'd think. I love the way the economy works and how the creeps are handled.

Lol, those 2 UB's most have been noobs.

Killing you over and over again gives them HUGE xp en gold.
with that they can easely outbuy on anything.
Wierd they lost the...

@ Chromeweasel:
Your partly right and partly wrong.
Killing demigods gives more xp and gold then controling the creeplanes.
Thats because if you kill the enemy you'll have 25 seconds to get all flags and creeps.
Wich is huge! 25 seconds is more then enough to bring down a tower or get 1.5 flags.
In addition you'll have a huge money advantage and xp advantage.

Then there is the part of controlling the lanes.
This is also important but you don't have to have it all the time. Just get controle of it when you need it.
When you have controle of the flags it's time to get the buildings down. Then it's time to get those lanes.
Because if you focus on the lanes it gets easy for your opponent to kill a huge ammount of creeps in a little time.
Wich means huge xp&gold in small time.

So for me, controle the flags, get the creepkills for money en xp then get a demigod down where you can whenever you can.

They did out buy us....they just kept buffing themselves with artifacts and such. Two UB's spitting at me and foul grasp one after and another is so crazy. I couldn't even use pots or heal.

freshpyro ill have to respectfully disagree, and agree with chrome.

your first point, chrome is just pointing out that the object, above killing other dg's , is staying alive which in my opinion is absolutely correct.  but ya no doubt killing a DG is greatly advantageous.

not exactly sure what your point is on the lanes.  if you "control" a lane  you are getting the creeps while denying your opponent, as your creeps are getting killed by their towers.

Seriously? You were at level 11 and they were at 20 and they... lost?

Wow. Just wow.

Artifacts are nice, but they are far less cost effective than buying troops.  Of course, it doesn't take long to buy all the troops... this is when artifacts should really be bought.

I've certainly stole a few games from teams that didn't understand this.

Seems like this is madeup. A level 20 UB can ooze his way through an entire crowd with artifacts.

End of quote

In another thread, though, it was shown that you get gold and exp from creeps killed by towers near you.

So you just have to hang back and you get all the same gold and exp as though you were on the front killing them.

Seems strange, I agree.

Well, you have to deal damage to get the gold, but the gold from early creeps is, while nice, still not particularly impressive (now priests, those things are like treasure chests of EXP and gold.)
