Peer To Peer = FAIL

Unbelievable but true, there are still players around not having 256+kbits of upload. I bought this game 4 weeks ago and till present day I couldn't even finish ONE SINGLE online game, because my upload (128kbits) is to low for this. Thanks to whoever thought PeerToPeer would be good idea, you ruined the game for me...

There wouldn't be a problem if it was ClientToServer like ALMOST ALL other online games. PeerToPeer is just a horrible solution for online gaming.

kthx I'm out...

Have you tried the /serverproxyonly command?  I may be wrong, but I figured that would greatly reduce upload requirements as you are uploading to one server and then the server distributes it too many people.

I'm glad your so informed. Good man Elen.

I disagree that p2p connectivity is fail, each system has its advantages and disadvantages. However I do wonder what all the upload bandwith is used for. When I played Q2 ages ago it only required about 1-2 kb/s upload. 128 kbit/s equals 16 kb/s upload, which isn't a huge deal, but I still wonder how much information is being sent to everyone to need that kind of bandwith.

Bingo - it's a great help for people with limited upload. It increases your ping, however it makes what was once unplayable, playable. Also, keep in mind additional improvements to the Netcode for Demigod are most likely in the works and will help, to a degree, people with slower connections. And, just for the record, I'm in the OPs boat as my upload isn't anything to brag about.

You do not make any sense. Having a low upload bandwidth will not cause you to not being able to finish a game, since the bandwidth consumption will stay the same during the whole game. A low upload bandwidth, like 128kbit/s, will only restrict you from playing 3v3 or higher.

3on3 or even 2on2 matches lag so much that everyone wants me to leave and if I don't then they leave...

According to speedtest.net I have an average upload of 0.13Mbps. I know, that's not much. But with this connection I can play all games online except Demigod.

Hm, 2on2 should be perfectly possible with your upload bandwidth. It could very well be that something is additionally causing delay to the UDP packets. Do you use a firewall or antivirus software on your PC? What type of router do you have?

Again with subjective generalizations. MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY people are playing Demigod just fine using the P2P system. LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of multiplayer games use P2P.

The problem is your upload speed. You need to upgrade.

Warcraft 3 uses Battle.net, Battle.net connects you to a proxy server that then connects for you. It doesn't announce any of this, so most people think their connections and hardware are better than they are. By using the force proxy server setting - making sure you've connected via proxy servers in the connection window - you should be able to play 2v2 games with little to no problems. I myself have a limited upload - I can't play 5v5 games. If you're unable to correct the problem, I'd seriously consider a refund as no mention of large reduction in the required upload have been announced, just general optimisations to the netcode to smooth things out.

Best of luck.
