Map Traits?

What do you want in a new map?

So I'm sure I"m not the only one sick of Cataclysm.  (Personally I rather enjoy Exile, but not many people seem to.)  Obviously, there needs to be more maps in this game, specifically for 3v3.

What kind of things do you like in a map?  How many paths/lanes with and without creep?  What kinds of flags in the middle?  What kind of side-flags that are behind some towers?  More or less towers?

It's Cataract by the way. I agree that it gets boring playing the same map over and over. There really need to be more 3on3 maps. Sometimes i even play 3on3 on Leviathan or Zikurat, those maps are pretty good for that too.

Prison and Exile are my favorites, but they seem to be the least favorite of many people. Of course, I really hate the Four Brothers map...

Hopefully they make more maps like Exile, but without the chokepoint at the citadel.

Prison and Crucible are horrendously imbalanced. Need more <4vs4 maps.

Eh, most people call it "Cata" anyway.  Still, I'm not sure why I thought it was "Cataclysm."

I'm not a fan of Prison and Crucible either.  The former is basically one massive lane, and the latter is literally one lane.

I like Exile because of the flag setup in the middle, along with the wide split between the lanes.  My only real gripe about it is just how long it takes to even get to the middle from the base.

I don't like the accessibility of the portal flags in Cataract.  Having a way to attack the base from multiple fronts is good, but swiping the base's creep spawn has really wide implications.  For the strategic importance, the defense of them is really poor, whereas (for example) the gold flags in Leviathan have a fort, tower of light, and archer tower defending them.  (Value of the 2x gold flag vs a 1x gold and creep flag might be debatable.)

One lane for 3v3 removes alot of intresting strategy. Cata is very intresting in this way. Is it worth skipping a wave of creeps in oder to take the XP flag? That is one of the decisions players are forced to make on cata. Is it good to take down the first tower in each line? Prison is just like a big arena where all you need to do is to force the other team to retreat.

Best maps are the maps that allows more than one strategy.

For me multiple lanes are one of the most important feature of a map in order to change tactics during the game. On maps like Cruchible there is only one way to play it (unless using teleportfunctions). If your team are facing opposition with strong "lane denial features" like 2xRocks your team can basicly by cut of and the only way out is through the opposing team.

Another feature I would like to see in maps are teleports, like the onces creeps comes from, but usable to demigods that transports you to a fix part of the map. Maybe only usable at certain intervals. This would prevent "lock in" of a team in their base, on Cruchible for example, when you are not owning any flags to use teleportscrolls to get to.

Anyhow, more lanes equals more possible strategies and more dynamic battles. If there should be one focus of the game at this stage for me it would be to make more maps before adding more demigods.
