Fix your game

I think I speak for the majority of the day to day demigod players when I say, the thing we care most about is having a stable game to play.  We're tired of constant crashes and disconnects.  We're tired of invalid game states.  We're tired of endless connectivity.

What is the point of having two new demigods to play as when you can't even play the game?  Oh hey, let me crash as this guy now.  Fantastic.

Demigod by far has the best game play out of any other game in this genre but we're losing players left and right.  Why?  Because people are starting to come to the conclusion that stability is far more important than the game play.  I don't care if playing a game makes me  splooge my pants every time I complete a game if I can never complete a game.  The stability of this game has gotten completely out of control and needs some serious attention.

I realize that funding is a problem but releasing 2 new demigods in a game that doesn't work isn't going to make it sell more copies or get more people to play it.  Sure I'm excited to test out the new demigods but after over 6 invalids/crashes out of maybe 10 attempts to play today... You could be releasing 10 new demigods and people will still stop playing.

If you took the stability and lobby features of HoN and combined with the game play of Demigod.  You would have game of the year.  But instead we just have a crashing shit fest of frustration.

Fix the game.

Telling SD/GPG to "fix the game" is hardly helpful, and it's not going to solve anything. As much as we all wish it were possible there isn't anyone who can just wave a magic wand whenever problems come up and make them disappear.

i rarely (in fact i just remember once) get sudden crashes with an exception or a "silent" crash. so what actually bugs me most is the ingame disconnect between only 2 players and i think this has been solved. read this: http://soriandev.blogspot.com/

then there is a desync that perhaps also will be solved. i hope they also fixed the lobby crash when hosting a game. but i just wanted you to know what was fixed and what they say they are working on.

If this issues have been solved then why are they still happening?  Sure one thing goes away for a patch and then three new problems sprout up on the next patch.  Regardless, I don't really care any more.  After every game I've tried to play yesterday having someone drop or getting glitched out, I'm just not going to play a game that fails every time you attempt to play it.

So good job Demigod.  You've lost another player and more will continue to leave until you start addressing issues that actually matter.  If a multiplayer game is unplayable online, then what is the point of attempting to play it.  Why would I refer someone to a game that crashes and breaks every thirty seconds?  The first and only issue you should address when a game has as many connectivity problems as Demigod is your fucking connectivity problems.

This game has been out for how long now and still doesn't work properly?  Unless you start addressing your players happiness there is no point in releasing new content.  What are we going to do, play it on single player?  Oh wait, I forgot, there is no single player.  So you'd think that making the multiplayer work properly would be at the top of the list.

i think you are heavaly wrong with that. the news we get about modding tools, singleplayer improvements, and new demigods indicates they do not focus on the important things, as there are plenty of bugs, lack of multiplayer infrastructure (r.g. teamed match making system) and still stability and network problems, not working ladder and stats (lost matches you enver were in, 3v3 game counted as an 2vs4.... or even games missing, and totally wrong calucation of ladder rank for many players). even database errors when trying to put player notes.

i think it would be helpfull if more players say " we don't want more non functioning features, we want first to fix the most important stuff!".

GPG is working on the issues alongside the new content. For example Sorian commented on another thread that with the aid of a repro case for one of those issues, chances are good that it can be resolved for 1.2.

If you have a particular problem, report it in detail over there. Posting a rant to "fix it" isn't constructive at all.
