WinCustomize on the Move!

WinCustomize and Stardock will be switching internet providors. The move will help decrease bandwidth costs and hopefully speed up the site as we will be on one of UUNets major backbones.

However, there is a price to pay. To switch providors we physically have to move our servers. Over the past couple days we have been in the process of consolidating servers so we can free up servers to send over to UUnet. Unfortunately this process has caused some downtimes and slowness. And most likely there will be more times when we need to take a server down while we are in the process of transfering data from machine to machine.

Hopefully we will have completed the move by the end of next week and everything will be back to normal. So please be patient with us while we try and get this all sorted out.

Thanks for the info T-Man, I was wondering if the slowdown of late was due soley to bandwidth issues, or whether in fact you folks were doing things with the backend servers.

Good move. I've been dealing with UUNet/Worldcom now for a number of years. Good service, and good price.

Some of our slowdown's have been to problems, but we think we have taken care of those. But anything over the last two days has been in regards to moving the server.

Were still have quite a bit of shuffling to do and we will try our best to minimize down time.

Sounds like good news once it's all sorted out.

Good luck and I hope the move goes well...

I have noticed that the option 'My Skins' is missing, is this due to to the move?

Ok, one more major step completed. We just transferred the entire WinCustomize and Stardock websites to a different server.

By far we are not done yet. Now we need to actually ship servers half way across the country and do the process all over again.
