Next week, ObjectBar 1.0 will finally come out after nearly 2 years of development.

During the beta, nearly 60 different themes for it have already been created. ObjectBar's features though are primarily in productivity. The fact that it also has perhaps the most flexible skin format ever created for a program of its kind is just a bonus.

No program available can do the things ObjectBar can do. For Windows 98/NT/2000/ ME users it can do the Windows XP start bar completely. We're not talking just looking like it, it can provide the actual new functionality of it. At the same time, it is flexible enough to also do the MacOS Finder bar - not just look like it, but act like it (including stripping menu bars from your apps and having them as part of the bar).

Check out this guided tour to get an idea of just some of the things it can do.

Dang... it just keeps getting harder and harder to resist buying ObjectDesktop... This thing integrates with DesktopX now, so I guess I don't even have an excuse not to be running that:-P Keep up the great work guys!

Excellent read and truthfull too. I have been using Object bar as a Winxp taskbar since the .9 or so version simply because the menu catching is much faster than XP's native taskbar. Also I moved the all programs to the right pane to prevent accidental activation when going for the most used list.. BTW Froggy there is a major typo in your tour....

Another nice feature is that object bar alphabetizes your menus unlike Microsoft, this is especially nice on a win2k or XP system where MS doesnt alphabetize or truly combine the all users and current user programs list..

*** I hope someone from Stardock READS this. *** OB was the main reason why I purchased Object Desktop. My feelings for OB is a mixture of love and hate. I loved this thing so much and I submitted 3 themes in one month. At the same time, I am very disappointed by some obvious glitches that still haven't been fixed ever since its first beta release. For example, if you choose to hide the recycle bin, the wallpaper doesn't get drawn properly. Another example is that TrayServer screws up the language bar. And most irritatingly, the entire Object Desktop suite has very poor support for multi-user platform. OB's memory consumption is also a mistery. I once sent an email to Stardock asking about the resource usage of OB. I never got any answer. I believe Stardock is aware of its competition on the market. A year ago, WindowBlinds was probably the only and the best Windows skinning tool. But now, I admit that I have totally given it up after I tried something else. As a customer of OD. I'm looking forward to improvement of the products and my own satisfaction.

ObjectBar doesn't hide the recycle bin. I'm sorry you're dissatisfied.

When you check on "Hide Desktop Items", OB does hide the recycle bin. Am I terribly wrong? I suspect this might be specific to Windows XP, which seems to draw wallpaper differently than earlier versions. I would rather let OB's devlopers look into this. Anyways, I simply love ObjectBar so much that I want it to be perfect.

First, WOW, I mean just WOW. Awesome product. The entire line of products are impressive, But I do have a few concearns.
First, when you make a menue and tell it to use the "special folder-Desktop" There is no icon at all. But what bothers me more is that there is no way to set it. Second, in most of the attempts I have made to use popup menues, they are sized in such a way as to cut off the letters at the end, and the only way to fix it is to set a minimum size. It is possible that there is something about the skin that affects this that I am not aware of but I'm not having much luck figureing out the skins so far (Very new to the skin aspect)
Also, I have noticed some issues with the "All users, current user" properties on like the start menue.

There are other things similar to this, but I'm hoping everything gets resolved in the final release.

Thanks for all the hard work and dedication, and keep it up!!
