What would you like to see in future Deskscapes releases?

What would you like to see in future Deskscapes releases?

I was just wondering what Deskscapes users and potential users would like to see in Deskscapes 3.2

I know there is interest in having some form of timed animations back, but I was wondering if there were other features you would like to see, or if there are any issues you have encountered with Deskscapes 3.1.

just see the stretch over monitors and fill monitors background settings modes.

I don't actually see any settings in the configuration window that resembles the above. I've got the latest version, according to Impulse, and I don't see those in either the 'Background Options' dropdown, or on any pane of the 'Settings' dialog.

Is this maybe a feature that hasn't escaped out to the wild yet?

Thanks

The background options drop down?

The background options should be a tab at the bottom of the UI.

I assume you have Deskscapes 3 or higher?

Unless there's something odd with the installation, I've got what Impulse says is the latest version (about info pasted below).

I see the tabs at the bottom of the UI, but there's nothing there about options (I see, with the Desktop Ripples dream, three tabs, Backgrounds, Dynamic Dream Settings, and Effects). None of these produce an option to stretch over monitors, etc.

I get exactly the same results (and apparent lack of those options) when I use the individual monitor setup, or the all monitors setup (and for Excalpius, this dream, at least, doesn't do anything different when I copy and rename it, the dream settings persist, regardless).

The stretch over monitors option only applies to static wallpapers and video dreams not dynamic dreams.

Okay, that's interesting.

The stretch over monitors option only applies to static wallpapers and video dreams not dynamic dreams.

Dynamic dreams can already treat the entire space as a single workspace if they wish. Likewise video dreams can be stretched to fill multiple screens - just see the stretch over monitors and fill monitors background settings modes.

Which of these answers (both from you) is correct, then?

Saying that a dynamic dream can treat the entire space as a single workspace implies that it can be set to present a uniform display over the area defined by multiple monitors.

And if it is a fact that dynamic dreams currently cannot do this, it seems appropriate to state that providing that feature would be an acceptable answer to the question that started this post.

And, I'm not really convinced by the argument that providing these features are too much of a performance hit. How about we get the option, and we can choose to use the feature, or not, as we see fit?

So, that's my answer to your original question. Give us the option to allow dynamic dreams to treat a multiple monitor setup as a single space.

Or, perhaps, since the 'Desktop Ripples' dream is a Stardock premium dream, maybe it can be updated to better handle multiple monitors. Just a thought.

Deskscapes is still better than it was, so that's a net plus, but I'd like to see multiple monitors supported more fully.

Dynamic dreams can do what they want, but it is up to the developer of those dreams to decide what they want to do.

Hi Neil

I'm not as tech savvy as many of the other guys on here so my ask is rather simple. I want Dreams. More specifically, Dreams created from scratch and not those created from videos.

1. Windmill Dream - Setting Holland, slow turning windmill with tulips swaying in the forground. Triggered Dream maybe?

2. Aquarium Dream - This is a long time coming. An aquarium Dream created for us. Tropical setting, coral, brightly coloured fish.

3. Animated Waterfall - Yeah, as my other requests, fairly generic but if rendered correctly, this could be awesome.

4. Animated Karateka - Setting, Buddhist Temple, karateka in gi performing a kata. Or ninja doing weapons forms.

Sorry it's not as intriguing as the others but Deskscapes is ultimately about my desktop and that's what I'd want on it.

I would like to see dreams that will work with desktop X. That would be badass!!! Of I could use a dreamscape background against a desktop x desktop that would be a wonderful thing. Can u do that?

Hi Neil,

I am one of the folks having trouble with running Dreams and Fences together on WIN 7 64 bit (Fences "dissappear" and all icons become visible when any dream runs - have worked with tech support for some time with no result that has lasted). I LOVE both programs, and would like to see them run together again soon.

I am suspicious that it is the new Feature of Deskscapes 3 that allows users to make icons transparent that is causing Fences to dissappear - so the feature I would love to see is a setting where you can fully disable Deskscapes from having any interaction with icons on the Desktop, and all of its hooks in that regard are removed from the OS.

Thanks!

PS - if you would like me to beta test anything for you let me know
