Scheduling Games

I'm creating this post because I love playing Demigod. I want to play good matches against players of equal or greater skill, and I want to be able to play with my teammate on Vent without everyone leaving the lobby as soon as they see we have 50% familiarity. I think there are other people out there like me, who are also looking for these same things, have partners (or don't care) and who want decent games, but may not neccessarily be getting invited to play with the pros.

So I'm creating this post where hopefully those of us who are looking for these things can post when they will be on, state what type/ size game they are looking for, whether they are a premade or not, which demis they like to play, what their skill level is, whether they want to play pacov's tourney rules or any other rules, what mods they are using, etc.

Sure, it's more work to log on here and set up a game than just jump in the lobby and hope for the best, and Vent is great for setting up games, if you happen to be on at the same time, but I, for one, would like to be able to look at this post while I'm at work or school, see who I am playing that night, tell my wife when I am going bye-bye and jump right into a decent, balanced game when I start Demigod.

Anyone with me? Am I crazy?

So to get it started:

Chiefy01 and I are tenatively (unless his wife vetos 'cause it's her birthday this weekend), looking for a game (or three) Friday the 30th around 11 pm EST. We are willing to take on a teammate (or more), especially if they want to meet us on vent, and are happy to play 2v2 or 3v3 Cata (or whatever, we're not picky). We're happy to play pacov's tourney rules if people who (unlike us :( ) are still in and want to keep practicing for the next round, or are sitting around waiting for their opponents to be done wih round 1. We're also happy to face any and all comers. Hope to see some interest.

Or, please, if this time or game doesn't work for you, post what does and hopefully you can find a good match with someone else. Good luck!

I uninstalled this game for this reason. I hate waiting in the Lobby for 1/2 hour, get a game and then the game ends in 5 minutes.

Bad / chiefy why dont you guys jump on lagwars vent.  Theres quite a number of us that are on there nightly. 

Some of the regulars:

Ninki, mchane, mith, cow, pacov, trouser, tesseer, max, obi, rawr, hedgie, orcun, peter, jona, mac and plenty more....

then you dont have to schedule!

Must be smoking hot female and not affraid to lose most games.

ya they are on Lagwars Jon, they just inhabit one of the channels near the very top.

 

You guys should go to the bottom, where GM clan and Osmium Shift channels are.  We usually play games with a crowd of people we know.  Not all of them are on vent, but we prefer to take those who are on vent over those who aren't when the people available gets larger than 4v4.

Yeah, I pm-ed pacov for the clan pw a few weeks back. The reason I created this was twofold:

Number One: Every time I log in I see you, RAWWRRR on AFK, and don't see many others. And...

Number Two: We played pretty piss poor in the tourney. I wouldn't presume to be invited to always play with the top tier players. I am a significantly better player (IMHO) playing Oak than TB, but still...

People usually just hop in a lobby if they are looking to play and ask if people are free.  If not, then just briefly ask if they'll check in with you when the game ends so you can perhaps play in the next game.

You don't need an invitation to play, we try to accomodate everyone. We all stick around even when we're on the same team with Peter or Cow's ooze beast.

Well thanks all, I will look harder for games on vent, perhaps even we watch Spartacus in a bit.

However, I also had this crazy idea that a resource like this would be good for the whole community. I don't think a lot of noobs are on the forums, but I am seeing more and more new players, and I remember how hard it is to get a game when you're new, or returning, and your stats are keeping you out of games. There are all sorts of reasons it might be nice for people to go to one place and find a game or maybe a teammate in their timezone who they can start to play with regularly etc. Kinda like a classifieds section, but for something cooler than toasters or jobs at Subway.

Many players don't browse the forums or have time to wait for people to log on when they say they will just to get a game going (which involves kicking people while waiting and hoping that person didn't forget or w/e).  The people who do already do this on lagwars w/out setting up a game on the forums.  I mean, it took me multiple days of posting, messaging, attempting to get a response, and waiting for my opponents to log on to get our first tournament game done.  It was a ridiculous amount of work just to play 2 games.  And these were people who were a team and signed up on the forums to play...  Best bet for anyone interested is to log on lagwars.  I've been in organized 3v3 / 4v4 games all day with minimal wait in-between (maybe waiting for someone for 5 minutes to get back from afk).

Till about 1PM EST, its rare to have more then one person.
