Well, since you are specifically directing that at me, I never use your docks.  Not to say I don't try them out.  But they never last long on my screen.  They don't do it for me.

I agree, and also for the zoomers.  Doesn't look right and is just wasted space imo.  Otherwise, they look decent.

Those docks are amazing WG! When I grow up, I wanna be just like you or.........if I ever get better at dock skinning

I  think WG was m1's dock teacher although I could be mistaken. Just apply to the WG School of advanced Docks, and he'll teach you (if he's not in too much pain, which I hope he isn't).

well, i think its settled, WG doin the docks, and for one, I think they look freakin awesome.

No biggy Natas...I was just bustin your chops...I can't and don't expect everyone to like my docks. I skin for fun and myself and I try to please the original skinner I'm doing them for in the process. As with all my docks I first do them to "match" the skins I'm doing them for and I can't please everyone...although I try to make as many docks from a skin as I can to give people a variety...there are still some people you just can't please. But at over 1/2 million downloads someone likes them I guess...go figure.

The first dock you see there matches "exactly" to the skin John is doing...which I'm refining even more...and I'm also doing others for people like Bebi who like them more compact.

But like I said Natas...no biggy...you should use what ever floats your boat. And Steve does great docks as well...he was my first and best student and I'm proud of what he's done. He became a great dock skinner in his own right.

But for people that don't like the docks I do...it's a free world and they can easily make their own.

WG- I agree with what you've said.  You can never please everyone.  You get used to a certain persons docks and you end up comparing everyone elses to theirs.  I'd say that goes for all level of skins really.  I'm trying to get better myself, which is a reason you don't see a lot of stuff in my gallery.  I just can't bring myself to upload most of what I've made.  I even took down my shoddy first ones because they were really embarrasing.

And before he left, messiah1 was helping me out quite a bit.  It amazes me that he could be so civil with me after they way I treated him when I first got here.  But I swallowed my pride when he asked me if I'd like some pointers and I've been trying to emulate him since.  He did mention that he learned from you after you offered to "take him under your wing".

I wasn't trying to bash anyone when I said what I said.  I mean, I'm included in the "fill-in" comment I made.  I don't think my Venom or ecological  docks would hold up to anything messiah1 would have done.  But I try to do him proud as well as make the skin author happy also.

Yeah Steve's a good guy. And he was a fast learner as well. Pretty much all I can really do with anyone that wants to learn is teach them the basics and a few tricks. From there it's learn as you go since each dock will always have something different about it and you have to be able to improvise each time. PhotoShop skills don't hurt either. And hey...when I look at my first docks I can't help thinking...wtf was I thinking!? lol

nice post natas.....    I'm just very grateful to anyone who offers their time to do accessories for the blinds....it enhances the customizing experience so much....doesn't matter what stage they're at...giving it a go is half the fun....and watching skinners grow over time is what it's all about....

over the years, I've often gone into the gallery of senior longtime skinners...and gone straight to their first page...and worked forward.....it's always inspiring to see just where they've come from....and disappointing when some have removed work they now consider inferior...to me...it just shows the journey....
