maximum number of ships

Today, i played single player against a computer. I won, but thats beside the point. However after he had only his HW, instead of finishing it off, i teched up to maximum fleet size, ending up with 9 capitals (used to colonize pirate base) and something around 300 Cobalts. At this point, it could be seen, that my computer is workign quite hard (all parked in one system).

What however hit me is:

The maximum fleet support is 2000.

The ship with lowest ship cost is the Scout ship (2 points)

With max players being 10, that means 10*1000 ships. So, anyony tried this? :D 10 000 ships blasting away in one single solar system...... :D

it gets worse that that...

with diplomacy, supply pacts are intoduced, inceaseing the max limit by 800.

one time, i put a sova on a desert world with nothing but factories, used rapid MRG, and pumped out like 500 scouts.  it caused the game to desync.

i do have to wonder why you used cobalts... by that point in the game, cobalts are speciality support ships (anti-support ships really) not damage dealers... you should have had, not 300 cobalts, but 375 javilis. (thats... 4125 dps... before research and cluster missles.... thats instapopping cap ships... thats taking a single volly forevry health upgrade on the starbase... (you prolly dont have entrenchment, so nvm)... thats... so hilirous as, the kortul, in its last breath casts vnanites, and causes a chain reaction causing the entire lrm fleet to just vanish.)

This posts reminds me of a guy who played online under the name Quiche Poirot.  In a competitive 4v4 (or was it a 5v5?  I forget) he built nothing but Cobalts!  His teammates were pleading with him to research and build LRMs and spam those out instead but he just kept pumping out Cobalts.  Somehow we won that game in spite of him.  I think it's because the opposing player that was next to him was occupied with a very good player on his other flank (could it have been Cykur?).  Otherwise Quiche Poirot would have been steamrolled.

Now throw in the number of trade ships running around once Trade Ports come into play and you've got an even worse situation.

End of DirtySanchezz's quote

lol, each of your teammates just spam the others types instead, so one spams coblats, one spams scouts, other spams lrm, etc.

In that particular game, I think I had fully upgraded Destras and not Lums.  Note that as a general rule, contrary to the popular belief that some newer players might have, spamming out one of any unit is a great way to lose because a smart opponent will just spam out the counter.
