Would you Really want to see it?

Would you Really want to see it?

The End of The World

As Humans, we are all fascinated by certain things. Certain Mysteries of life that we may never solve. Like "What happens after we die?". As we all know, different Religions have varying different beliefs on what happens after we die. Another Human fascination is Destruction. We Love to create things. Many of us though have the same need to see what we create be destroyed. These Human Fascinations, to Create and to Destroy, these are two side of the same coin. Most people don't realize that. Most people in fact see Creation as "Good" and Destruction as "Bad". Honestly, this view is not correct. You can't have one without the other, just as with Life and Death. Without Room to Create, nothing new can be Created. When you run out of room to build, you have to destroy something old to make room for the new. We tear down old buildings so that nice shiny new ones can be built on their foundations.

If you had the chance, I mean if you REALLY had the chance, would you like to see the End Of The World? How-ever it may happen. Passing Asteroid or Comet. A Black Hole swallowing our sun or solar system. Famine and Plague running rampant as our climate changes to something that will no longer support Human Life. How-ever it may come. If you could, would you like to watch the End of The World? (Disregarding Time Limitations of Course)

Do not answer this without thinking. You would have to watch the Death of the Entire Human Race. All your loved ones, friends, family, everyone and everything you love gone right before your eyes before you follow them into the abyss. Some people's first reaction might be "Hell yeah I wanna watch that!! That would be cool!!"...which is why I say don't answer without some serious thought. It's one thing to go see a disaster movie, it's another thing entirely when the Disaster is Actually Happening to people you Care About.

Thinking of the ramifications, would you even Be Able to Watch That? Would you be able to live with your-self knowing you watched Billions of people Die? Even if you joined the rest of the Human Race in extinction and you were the last man/woman left on the planet. Would you even think you Deserve any kind of Restful/Peaceful "afterlife" after watching and taking pleasure in the deaths of Billions of Innocent People? Or would you feel too guilty having witnessed it?

Could You Really watch the End of the World?

Ah, I was talking about this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Warwick#Project_Cyborg

Although I guess it was in his arm, rather than his brain.
End of alway's quote

That's who I was talking about as well. The first chip was in his arm, but then he had neural interface built and implanted in his brain I believe that allowed him to control the arm over the internet among other things. I wasn't aware of the next step involving his wife, that's very cool.

Could You Really watch the End of the World?
End of quote

Huh. What a profound question. Are you talking about the End of Civilization or the End of Earth? Those are two different things. As for me, I'm not worried about the Earth no matter what we do to it. What I am worried about is the habitability for Earth for we humans. I care about humanity. I am human. In some ways I am the Supreme Collectivist because I believe your own fate is tied to the fate and well-being of those around you. Sure, you might get "rich" but living a life in fear of the next peasant revolt is no life at all.

Would I like to see the end of the Earth? It depends. If I could have some detachment from it all, it would be interesting. However, deep inside I'm a bleeding heart, and I don't think I could watch such a thing without profound despair.

This was a great thread...... Think about all the shows on history channel on this topic, such as "Life After People", or the one about people living after most technology and the rule of law fails.   Another good show on the topic was EARTH 2100.

The oil running out is a real problem..... Likely we will still need it for plastics, whatever energy we ultimately convert to, but likely the U.S. has enough plastic in landfills to last for at least the next 200 years or so.

Personally, I think Poly dactyl cats will survive us and evolve into the next sentient species on earth.... They already are 85 % of the way to having opposable thumbs, and most scientists believe that they will do quite well once people are gone, as they have all their base hunting skills and a generally low caloric intake need.

i would love to watch it, as long as it was free and not broadcast on any fox affiliated networks!! :P

Earth 2100 can be seen free on U-Tube ( like in 9 10 minute segments ). Life after people was shown on the History Channel, and may be available throuh their website........

No, I wouldn't want to see it...I don't even like going back to my childhood home, because the changes bother me.  I don't like looking back, and I can't think of anything more "back looking" than watching the world end.

We could Get Rid of oil for Gas Right now BUT GREED stands in the way

Prototype car runs 100 miles on four ounces of water as fuel

it has been around for 4 to 6 years now..  and the car can run solely on WATER.

As  for living without Oil we can't at this stage of our Technology capabilities. We use it for so Meany other things.

aeroplanes, building, cars, clothing, detergent, insulation packaging, paint, plastic, playgrounds, toothbrushes, toothpaste, Just to name a few...

as to the OP  .. Yes it would be cool to see a Planet Explode but it don't have to be the Earth.

Say, I'm a bit busy right now. If the world is going to explode or something, can someone tape it for me so I can watch it later.

Second try - first one went boom... (end of the world? How ironic...)

No i saw 2012 and that other one with Nicholas Cage and the world ends with a solar flare. And when the movie was over i felt just depressed.

Sure some plants and little bugs will live on and in a million year evolve AGAIN. But human race will die.

not sure why anyone would want to see the extinction of the human race. I would rather see how humans evolve in another million years.

End of Grove12345's quote

I agree I would love to see what happens when we Humans Evolve into a higher state of being, sadly though, I don't think the governments of the world would know what to do when this starts happening.

Here's a couple Examples of what I mean:

1. Scientists now know for a Fact that there was a time when "Modern Man" existed along side "Cro-Magnon Man". What happened to the "Cro-Magnons"? Well, Modern Man hunted them out of existence because they were different from the new humans being born. Modern Man also Bred Them Out by taking their women. Cro-Magnon Man was too stupid to see that a Modernly Evolved man was his Superior. Because of that they got wiped out.

2. There was a Episode of Star Trek: TNG that dealt with evolution. in the Episode I'm talking about this alien came aboard the Enterprise asking for asylum from his worlds government because the government thought these new type of people being born were dangerous and were inflicted with some kind of disease and so they were hunting them down, killing them, or locking them up. At the end of the Episode the alien guy Evolved into a Higher Form of Life and then went back to his planet to show everyone that the changes were indeed being caused by Evolution and Not by some Disease.

3. X-Men. Yes I know, like Star Trek this is a work of Fiction and not real, but the premise behind it is sound. Some day people might start being born with what normal people might consider "Super Powers". Instead of contributing this to the next step of Evolution, they might think these people were Mutated or Sick because of Environmental factors and try to lock them up for "their own safety".

Originally, Stan Lee wrote the X-Men back in the 70's as a Parallel to Racism. To show people that Racism was Wrong. That's the "Real Life" comparison of what the X-Men are. To show us all that we Are Ignorant when it comes to Racism. The same thing will probably hold true when it comes to Evolution as well.

If people suddenly started being born with 4 Arms or with the Innate Ability to read other people's minds, how would the government react? They'd treat it like a disease and start quarantining these new people off from society as they would be considered "Dangerous". I don't think we're smart enough as a Species to even recognize when the next step in Our Evolutions will happen, much less "what" will happen when it comes.

They haven't so far, but this truly begs the question, WHY?  It's good for the economy, it's good for the environment, it's taxable....why?  Why is it any different than any other agricultural crop?

End of k10w3's quote

Two reasons mostly:

1. They make Way More money on Prosecuting so called "criminals" and minor "drug" charges then they'll ever Legally Make off using it for manufacturing and medicinal and even legal recreational use. Taxes make money, sure, but busting people and confiscating everything they own makes more.

2. No Government power ever wants to Admit they were Wrong, especially in the cases of "Law". The only reason they gave the people back their alcohol was because the people in Power drank heavily and everyone knew it. Back then a lot of people didn't smoke marijuana. Also with racism being what it was back in the 30's and 40's, anything black people did white people didn't want to be any part of (like Rock 'N Roll and Jazz which the white culture didn't start to adopt until the 50's and 60's). This only shows that both the Government and the People were both stubborn, stupid, and pigheaded.

Yes it's good in every way..

Hemp as for clothing well the Cotton Picker / Clothing makers don't want it cause Hemp is stronger and here comes the key word Hemp LAST LONG.. so your clothes will last a lot long...  To me it all comes down to GREED

the government needs to wake up and smell the weed on every pole to legalize Marijuana not just for medical use but for recreational use too it wins in a Land slide.

ANNUAL AMERICAN DEATHS CAUSED BY DRUGS

TOBACCO ........................ 400,000
ALCOHOL ........................ 100,000
ALL LEGAL DRUGS .............20,000
ALL ILLEGAL DRUGS ..........15,000
CAFFEINE .........................2,000
ASPIRIN ...........................500
MARIJUANA ...................... 0
----------------------------------------
Source: United States government...

National Institute on Drug Abuse,

Bureau of Mortality Statistic.

To me Marijuana is NOT a DRUG.. if it is, then so is Basil and other herbs....

now on the other hand Advil, Excedrin (Migraine) you can't Grow then use.. they are manufactured..

Marijuana does not cause serious health problems like those caused by tobacco or alcohol (e.g., strong addiction, cancer, heart problems, birth defects, emphysema, liver damage, etc.). Death from a marijuana overdose is impossible. In all of world history, there has never been a single human death attributed to a health problem caused by marijuana. Legalize marijuana and life would be better for most people.

http://legalizationofmarijuana.com/

Marijuana even has Health benefits. that can help prevent some types of cancer.. from watching the Dr.Oz show...

this November California gets to vote on legal recreational use of Marijuana..

It is not worthwhile for a law to forbid people from willingly exposing their own bodies to MARIJUANA Use, any more than by overeating or bungee-jumping. Obesity is a national epidemic, killing millions every year, but the government has no right to regulate how much citizens eat.

They wouldn't HAVE to admit they were wrong...they just have to admit that they were right in 1942, when they encouraged it's growth for "VICTORY" (so we could win the war...which we need to do again.  If we didn't depend on oil so heavily, we wouldn't be at the mercy of the middle east.

Plus we're talking about Industrial hemp.  I'm sure most politicians don't know this, but industrial hemp would totally destroy any outdoor-grown recreational cannabis projects, because all those male plants would be out there, releasing their pollen, leading to seedy, weak product...turning every crop into rope dope.  Somebody needs to educate them on this -- if they seriously want to make a dent in the pot trade, then they should lift the ban on industrial hemp.

I'm not talking about marijuana -- I'm talking about industrial hemp, which could be used to replace crude oil.  It's a way of preserving the planet.  Even if industrial hemp WAS the same thing as marijuana, I think it would make a lot more sense to have a lazy civilization, as opposed to a dead planet.
