Would you Really want to see it?

The End of The World

As Humans, we are all fascinated by certain things. Certain Mysteries of life that we may never solve. Like "What happens after we die?". As we all know, different Religions have varying different beliefs on what happens after we die. Another Human fascination is Destruction. We Love to create things. Many of us though have the same need to see what we create be destroyed. These Human Fascinations, to Create and to Destroy, these are two side of the same coin. Most people don't realize that. Most people in fact see Creation as "Good" and Destruction as "Bad". Honestly, this view is not correct. You can't have one without the other, just as with Life and Death. Without Room to Create, nothing new can be Created. When you run out of room to build, you have to destroy something old to make room for the new. We tear down old buildings so that nice shiny new ones can be built on their foundations.

If you had the chance, I mean if you REALLY had the chance, would you like to see the End Of The World? How-ever it may happen. Passing Asteroid or Comet. A Black Hole swallowing our sun or solar system. Famine and Plague running rampant as our climate changes to something that will no longer support Human Life. How-ever it may come. If you could, would you like to watch the End of The World? (Disregarding Time Limitations of Course)

Do not answer this without thinking. You would have to watch the Death of the Entire Human Race. All your loved ones, friends, family, everyone and everything you love gone right before your eyes before you follow them into the abyss. Some people's first reaction might be "Hell yeah I wanna watch that!! That would be cool!!"...which is why I say don't answer without some serious thought. It's one thing to go see a disaster movie, it's another thing entirely when the Disaster is Actually Happening to people you Care About.

Thinking of the ramifications, would you even Be Able to Watch That? Would you be able to live with your-self knowing you watched Billions of people Die? Even if you joined the rest of the Human Race in extinction and you were the last man/woman left on the planet. Would you even think you Deserve any kind of Restful/Peaceful "afterlife" after watching and taking pleasure in the deaths of Billions of Innocent People? Or would you feel too guilty having witnessed it?

Could You Really watch the End of the World?

Criminalizing substances never stops the use of those substances...it just makes the dealers of those substances much more wealthy.  That's how the laws of supply and demand work.  I believe the way things are right now, is probably the best way to deal with tobacco.  It's expensive, the majority of people understand it's danger, and more and more public places are smoke free, so...what an adult wants to do in the privacy of their own home should be their own business.  Mankind is not at risk of extinction due to the legality of tobacco.

The planet, however, IS at risk of extinction due to it's oil addiction, and that paradigm will lead to the extinction of mankind.  Politics is getting in the way of progress and survival.

That would be merciful, wouldn't it?  I'm afraid, though, like most deaths by addiction, it's going to be slow, painful and ugly.

Unless it happens suddenly and without warning within the next maybe 50 years, the end of the world will not be the end of humanity. I suspect once we start colonizing other planets it will be impossible to wipe us out.

I wouldn't mind watching the Earth destroyed on "TV" (or whatever it's called then) from another planet or star system though. I mean if it was going to happen anyway I'd like to witness it. It would probably be breathtaking in many ways.

Yeah, that would really be something. This reminds me of the Doctor Who episode where the world ends. I was in awe at its destruction in that episode. The happenings during that show also kind of put me into a neutral mood; Like it was just there, it just happened and the life as the TC so eloquently put it, had the duel sided destruction aspect to it. This is from my perspective at least. Thanks for creating the topic Raven X ^_^

Quoting Grove12345, reply 63No i saw 2012 and that other one with Nicholas Cage and the world ends with a solar flare. And when the movie was over i felt just depressed.

Sure some plants and little bugs will live on and in a million year evolve AGAIN. But human race will die.

not sure why anyone would want to see the extinction of the human race. I would rather see how humans evolve in another million years.

I agree I would love to see what happens when we Humans Evolve into a higher state of being, sadly though, I don't think the governments of the world would know what to do when this starts happening.

Here's a couple Examples of what I mean:

1. Scientists now know for a Fact that there was a time when "Modern Man" existed along side "Cro-Magnon Man". What happened to the "Cro-Magnons"? Well, Modern Man hunted them out of existence because they were different from the new humans being born. Modern Man also Bred Them Out by taking their women. Cro-Magnon Man was too stupid to see that a Modernly Evolved man was his Superior. Because of that they got wiped out.

2. There was a Episode of Star Trek: TNG that dealt with evolution. in the Episode I'm talking about this alien came aboard the Enterprise asking for asylum from his worlds government because the government thought these new type of people being born were dangerous and were inflicted with some kind of disease and so they were hunting them down, killing them, or locking them up. At the end of the Episode the alien guy Evolved into a Higher Form of Life and then went back to his planet to show everyone that the changes were indeed being caused by Evolution and Not by some Disease.

3. X-Men. Yes I know, like Star Trek this is a work of Fiction and not real, but the premise behind it is sound. Some day people might start being born with what normal people might consider "Super Powers". Instead of contributing this to the next step of Evolution, they might think these people were Mutated or Sick because of Environmental factors and try to lock them up for "their own safety".

Originally, Stan Lee wrote the X-Men back in the 70's as a Parallel to Racism. To show people that Racism was Wrong. That's the "Real Life" comparison of what the X-Men are. To show us all that we Are Ignorant when it comes to Racism. The same thing will probably hold true when it comes to Evolution as well.

If people suddenly started being born with 4 Arms or with the Innate Ability to read other people's minds, how would the government react? They'd treat it like a disease and start quarantining these new people off from society as they would be considered "Dangerous". I don't think we're smart enough as a Species to even recognize when the next step in Our Evolutions will happen, much less "what" will happen when it comes.
End of Raven's quote

not a huge fan of star trek, but from what i gathered about the show, Earth accelerated in knowledge and in power once they set aside their differences. Maybe one day humans can do that.

And yes good point with X-Men. But one point made in X-Men or even in Heroes is that its not mutation but evolution. So kill them off all you like and be racist. Human beings will be evolving and changing.

Im way more interested in seeing if Human beings can evolve mentally and emotionally. or maybe we can evolve into a bunch of crazy space marines and crush rocks with our hands and live 600 years

Thats why the idea of human extinction sounds so depressing, humans have lots of potential. well that and basically if the world ends im not sure if there would be a god/ after life (?)

The original American Declaration of Independence was made from hemp. :star:   And I wonder how all those boats in the early days of sailing were able to explore all round the world if their sails wore out like cotton wears out?    No, we had much more durable materials in those days.

Best regards,
Steven.
