Trying to contact Blair Fraser [Contacted]

I heard a year or so ago that his pm inbox wouldn't accept new messages. Is there any other way to contact him or another person who is related to the programming crew with Iron Clad concerning Sins of a Solar Empire? Just would like some actual dialog on an issue that myself and others in the community are trying to deal with.

E-mail has been sent: [email protected]

Awaiting a reply.

I received a reply from Mr. Fraser. He is looking into the issue on his personal time in the next or following weekends. He said coding wise it looks like it shouldn't be too hard of a fix but implementing it onto all three versions of Sins would be the more difficult part.

I have recieved word back from Mr. Fraser that he has indeed made the appropriate change concerning the planet and zoom issue. He has mentioned that he won't be pressing Stardock to release the patch until things calm down due to the soon to be launched Elemental game. He says that a new Diplomacy build needs to be created and placed on Impulse.

I asked him about the Sins Optimization Project and hope to have an answer back. I will keep everyone posted. There IS hope!

HEY! This is NOT a post about bashing on IronClad or Stardock!!!

This is a thread concerning the possibility of a new update and the content in that update.

If you want to complain and whine about stuff please start your own thread as I will NOT tolerate this thread being hi-jacked into one about people who are whining and complaining to ME to fix things. If you have some issues, contact Stardock, contact IronClad and for crying out loud submit your 'bug fix' requests to the appropriate channels.

Mr. Fraser is doing this on HIS spare time. Read: WEEKENDS outside of his work week at IronClad on Elemental. They have a VERY small design team as far as developer man-hours is concerned. So, relax and chill. Otherwise, get the crap out of this thread and leave it alone if you've got nothing constructive to contribute.

Why not describe the issue in a post?  It's possible that someone else has already addressed it with a mod or that there's an easy fix.

he has, we have all come to the agreement that its a hard code issue that if given to us we can use to make the game run more efficiently

VERY much more efficiently actually. It's the last piece of the puzzle to a long standing and very much 'desired to be discussed' issue that if solved, would really open up the possibilities..

Does anyone have any contacts with Iron Clad other than Blair that we could attempt to get in contact with?

So this is about playing games on maps with huge numbers of stars where individual planets will not shrink down when you zoom out?

that is the issue that boshimi discussed with me and I tried to find a workaround, but failed

So, there might be another patch coming which would, amazingly in conjunction with the Sins Optimization project, allow for large system play, finally. O.o' We'll see.

I kinda thought Stardock had our dear IC crew shackled and working on a new project :P.

Good to know they're still spending their spare time to polish sins out. If anything moves forward, it would be well appreciated.

Although I can already see those posts, saying that "you fixed that and you didn't fix XYZ ?!!! that sucx!!" etc.

ZOMG PATCH COMING!!11

well, to prevent the "zomg you didnt fix xyz"... would you mind sending blair a list of the other obvious simple stuff that we want changed?

1. skirantra nerf. (pleeease!)

2. fixing starbases at stars trade income. (currently extend trade network, but do not give required trade income)

3. there are still crashes and desyncs... but these are pains, and no one seems to ever want to bother to submit their logs.  (you know who you are >:( )

"he won't be pressing Stardock to release the patch until things calm down due to the soon to be launched Elemental game"

Well this might be bad news because from early indicitions, it looks like the Elemental game was released about 8 months sooner then it should have been..  So if he has to "wait until things calm down", it could be a LONG wait..

Same excuse as always. After elemental it will be another rushed project they are all to busy with.

so eventually we might do something that may help you (especially after Elemental launches and everyone all of a sudden has a bunch of free time )

I think Stardock and Ironclad has to realize there are different audience's that don't love all their games. Just because Elemental is their top priority, you don't stop all interaction with your other properties. They could have a contest for modders, with the best model, slipped in the vanilla game, or update the front page or keep active in the forums.

I'm a Sins customer, I did'nt feel the desire for Demigod or Elemental... so basically I've been left in complete darkness about the future of Sins and there is no reason for that. It makes no sense that we have to wait for a patch to fix the uber pirates and bland diplomacy tech tree so we can patch elemental for the next year. Thank god for SOGE and Reqiuem.

And btw : when you own the company (ironclad) it's not spare time, your not an hourly employee, your always on the clock, like a cop. It must be hard to be in the business with EA out there with AAA titles and unlimited funding, but you could at least keep one schmuck ( lol) on the payroll to keep us informed and entertained, regardless of the flavor of the month.( Elemental).

1. I didnt realize continuing the thread in the direction it was headed was hijacking.

2. Since you achieved your goal (contacting Mr. Fraser) why dont you close the thread?

So I have not played the game yet..Ordered it Friday from Amazon...

So how big a deal is this issue????

    Thanks!

very very small graphical one, only apparent if you play a certain mod.  dont worry about it.

if you are just buying trinity, worry more about pirates.  actually you should prolly just turn them off for a while. cause they hurt.

The "issue" is the 2 gig crash that happens with Entrenchment, Diplomacy, and very rarely with Original Sins. It is not that big of a deal if you play the game on default, or lower settings, but on maximum settings with Entrenchment, and Diplomacy you are almost guaranteed a 2 gig dump. No matter what OS you run, or what your system specs are. It is hard coded into the game itself.

We already fixed this issue along with many others with The Sins Optimization Project. We are trying to contact Ironclad to see if they will make TSOP an official patch, or at the very least look at it, and use it as a guide for their next official patch.

The forums are bugged. otherwise the topic would already be locked.

o rly? i thought it was the "certain planets dont quite appear at a mid-zoom state if there are too many planets"

herm.  either way, its not that big of an issue.
