LogonStudio: Help w/Preview and Shutdown Button position

I can mod the upper/lower and center panel images to match my monitor resolution (whew!), but I can't get odd aspect ratio logon images to preview correctly. For example, 1280 x 1024 or 1680 x 1050 (widescreen). I plug in the correct numbers for the panels and the actual logon appears perfectly, but the preview in LS is messed up. Is there any way to fix the preview for odd aspect ratios?

I would also like to know how to re-position the shutdown button. I can re-position the username and password items, but I am stumped as to how to put the shutdown button (and caption) where I want it. My purpose for moving it would be to create/modify a logon to look something like PixelPirate's logon here: https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?searchtext=gloss&sort=updatedate&order=Descending&library=26

TIA,

Jeff

I seem to recall that he is making some file alterations outside of LogonStudio to get the different positionong on the Shutdown button.

I can't really give you any info on how it is done though. You might try to contact him, if possible.

Dig around in the .ini file in the logon zip. You can open it with any text editor....I love the look of both that logon and the OSXP one. Good stuff, that.

Thanks for the pointers. I did muck around in the theme.ini and the uifile.txt files, but the coding was cryptic enough that 3 attempts to add/change the shutdown button position in a "new" logon resulted in fatal parsing error messages. Absent any "how to" tips on what code to change and how to format it, I have reached a point of diminishing returns. Bummer.

I havent had the chance to do any experimenting with the code yet....

Maybe I'll get around to it in the next week...I too am intrigued by the effect.

Just curious.

Does anyone know if older versions of LogonStudio/LogonXP had the ability to position the shutdown button? If so, why was the feature dropped in the latest version? If not, then never mind.

It was never incorporated into the actual program I dont think.

For anyone interested: I took Xero's logon: https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=26&SkinID=1477 and overwrote the graphics with my own and edited the Theme.ini file manually to change author name etc. I did a preview of it in Photoshop, that way the preview didn't screw up in LogonStudio.

I would also like to know if a setup like this was possible with an older version of LogonStudio or it has to be altered manually? And in that case, who did it first? I read through the codes in the UIFILE.txt, it seems like you can alter it. I wanna change font colors and such - I guess I have to fool around with it for a while to see if it works.

Maybe we could start an "Unofficial LogonStudio Documentation Project" ???

It has to be altered by hand...no version of LogonStudio ever could do it.
