Hi Picco,

I'm happy to try to help.  I see you have the German version of Demigod.  Hopefully your English is not too rusty so we can communicate.

First - while I know you want to play multiplayer, let me suggest some mods that will make the game more interesting in single player (while you wait for the problem to get fixed). Go here: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/399399 and download then install pacov's combined install package.  Then enable the enhanced UI mod and enhanced AI mod in the demigod mod manager - that's in the actual game.  This makes the single player game much better for folks that are learning the game.

Back to your problem:  how do you connect to the internet?  Do you connect through a router?  Through a cable modem, etc?  Any info you can provide should be helpful.  If you need to, we might be able to help you configure things so that you can connect, but I need more info.

hi,

at first thanks for the link I will try it this evenin.

I am 24H a day in a Network (study).

  • udp is komplet vorbidden
  • most ports are closed
  • I have no access to the firewall inside
  • no way to get around this
  • even ping ist vorbidden

I am sometimes in with wlan (VPN Client), sometimes with a cable ( no spezifig login nessesary) and sometimes with a cable( with login on a web page)

I am like in a castle: giant walls and barly any window to see the world around :fuzzy:

hey picco,

After seeing your reply, I tried to enlist the assistance of someone that is much better at networking than I am to assist, but have not heard from him.

As I believe UDP is required for the connections, I'm not really sure how you could connect.  And as you don't have the ability to change any settings, then I'm not really sure what can be done.  Maybe something like this is possible by connecting through a VPN, but I'm not really sure.

Hi there,

Sorry I took soo long in getting here.  I was on a work-induced hiatus.

If you haven't solved the issue yet......I am willing to help!

@ PiccoToxin,

Could we connect on TeamSpeak sometime.....I have a few ideas that may help, but I need to get more information from you first.  You are correct in assuming that tunneling or some form of encapsulation will be the only way for you to be able to do this.  There are many different ways of attempting that and I will need to know more about your exact *restricted* setup in order to rule out immediately what won't work.  Again......since your setup is so restrictive the odds of finding a way to solve this for you and still allowing for enough performance to allow for connection to more that 1 other player are rather slim (DEMIGOD uses huge amounts of bandwidth even without the over-head of tunneling/encapsulation adding to it)........but that doesn't mean I'm ready to give up just yet! ...  ;)

thanks,

Not to create other thread, I'll use this one.

I am having a strange problem with nat facilitator too. Generally I use my pc to play Demigod, but sometimes I use my notebook, and for two weeks now I am having a problem with NAT facilitator only in my notebook (using the same connection that I play with my PC and the problem keeps the same). Tried almost everything, reconfigured my modem and my router, the windows firewall, now I am trying to re-install DG.

But if this doesn't work, does anybody knows what else can I do?
