[Game Play] Dominate the galaxy in 30min

The ability to friend the neutrals is way too easy/useful.  Friend the neutrals and send out colony ships in masses.  You can own the entire galaxy in minutes with built in defenses (the neutrals) defending your planets.  Something has to be adjusted with this.

It would seem the AI hasn't really been touched on that much in Beta 1, I'm sure its on the list for a bit later.

It's pretty amazing when you are the Rebels, not going to lie. In my past few games, the pirates alone dominate the AI because all they do is dippity derp back and forth between two planets or so.

Even against humans, there will probably be a sort of meta game if both opponents are Rebels.

As for the Loyalists, they get pretty unstoppable once the cogs get turning . . . so they are weak in the beginning as balance. I don't know. I'm just theorycrafting in my head.

Can't wait to see the other 4 factions.

There are no Galaxies in this game!

Also I don't think you'd have to resources to support every planet you capped, you would be hurting your resources and would more than likely end up with a smaller army than others.

It isn't too expensive to make a colonized planet contribute to your economy, and rebel players can colonize planets a lot faster because they don't have to deal with the defenders.  As it is I think it's a bit overpowered.

Of course, the rebels don't have a titan that will almost never die when it levels up a few times.  But still.

Rebels definitely have strong early game options with their truces, one doesn't even have to rapidly expand and take everything in sight, you can just waltz past the now-friendly fleets and seize chokepoints (now with bonus defenders) with ease, then you can capture the other planets under your domain at your leasure.

At least personally, to me, I prefer the Rebels due to sheer fun factor and loving the early game small scale warfare, making friends with the NPCs and aiding in pirate raids is just pure, unadulterated fun.

However, they have nothing on the Loyalist midgame and undefeatable Titan... which is also capable of singlehandedly killing off your pirate allies.

My biggest problem with the Rebels is that they don't get the experience of feeding off neutrals and Pirates.

If the bad guy has an impenetrable defense and all you are doing is sending free pirate exp to him . . .

TEC Rebels vs. Loyalists is a classic RTS matchup, Earlygame/rush oriented faction vs. Turtle faction. In that matchup as Rebels, you win fast or you're pretty much screwed.

The advantage to Truce Amongst Rogues is that it lets you expand quickly and strike quickly, preferrably with a (friendly) pirate raid. It's highly unlikely that an earlygame Loyalist will be able to push back both your forces and a pirate fleet attacking in tandem, especially if you focus on the things that usually cause earlygame Pirate fleets problems (ie. Repair Platforms.)

If you allow the Loyalists to survive too long and tech up, then yes, they end up getting free food from the pirates as they throw themselves against the Loyalist defenses, and then eventually their Titan will probably go solo a Pirate Base for even more food from them.
