I'm losing on expert, cool! AI is using 6 traits, not cool! and more AI cheating...

ok, so maybe working as intended...

So, playing expert against all expert opponents on a huge map, I think 10.  2 of my custom races are nearby.

1 is somehow critically flawed, its been lowest rank in last 2 games - wraith, lucky, master scout, enchanter, vuln to magic, and something else.   Sov is a beastlord.   AI isn't using it very well and/or not building the excessively dodgy troops I designed.

2nd is kicking my #$%$! It sort of shouldn't be, it should be limited heavily by iron.  Made an ironeer, master scout, master smith, vuln to magic and enchanter.  Its rocking the point score and has huge armies running around.

The point of the post, I checked the units - and they have 6 traits, not just 3.   Is that normal for AI cheating?

Mobs are also very much ignoring the AI - this needs to be a setting or somehow reduced.    multiple mobs running though the claimed territory.

AI has something going on with pioneers - definitly spamming them all over the place.

I don't mind the AI cheating in terms of resources, but any mechanics they aren't following should clearly identified and settings based.

Its not a bug per se, I've modded my mounts file, my elemental defs resource tiles and starting gold, and also made all weapons max level 7... level 20 weapons?  really?  Any of these could be throwing the game off, but its still weird.

On the expert level the AI is now allowed to cheat and the 6 traits is the first of the cheats they get. If you do not want the AI to "cheat", then you would need to choose AI at the challenging level.

The mobs at expert or higher will more-likely ignore the AI as per the benefits to make the game at the expert difficulty. They also get bonuses to research, resource production and gildar production.

Bummer, ok thanks.  6 traits is pretty huge, although the production costs outweigh it somehow.

WAI then :)

Out of those, I think Mobs should still attack AI - especially outposts and armies, maybe not cities.

Pioneers should definitely be limited! Even if its to a lesser extent - 30 pop vs 15 pop or something.

Would be nice if the number of traits scaled up more gradually, you know 4 at expert, 5 at the next level, etc.

3 to 6 is a huge and very noticeable jump just for one difficulty level.

AI is not "cheating" on Expert difficulty or even the higher ones. It's getting handicaps an advantages that it's suppose to get at higher difficulties. The AI does not really "Play" any better at higher difficulties it just gets more stuff to play with which might seem like it's playing better. This has been the way of the AI for decades now. Nobody really takes the time to program a good quality ai except maybe Arjuna of Command OPS fame and Norb something or other of Norbsofts Civilwar games fame.

But, I have to give Brad credit he did a really good job on Galactic Civ II Twilight, but, look how long it took to get to Twilight and an ai worth playing against. So if it takes that long with Elemental then we still have a couple of years before this game has a really decent and promisng AI to play against on just regular, normal or challenging levels.

So another words the AI is cheating.  Any time the AI gets an advantage it is called a cheat by the player base.

Only the "ignorant" player base. It's called handicaps an advantages by those with intelligence. Look up the word "cheat" it has nothing to do with what the AI is doing.

The AI is NOT a PERSON nor can it be DISHONEST because it is not sentient. Therefore there is no cheating because it doesn't know how to cheat. It only works with advantages and handicaps that the programmer gives it and that is not cheating. I rest my case ur honor. :{P
