Building units from army - how does that work?

After creating an army, you can select it and seem to build more units from there. Instead of clicking on an actual factory.

The units seem to be built from just any random factory on the map, then they make the journey across the map, sometimes getting picked off before arriving at destination army.

Anyone know how this works? I feel like i'm missing something important!  lol

Loving the game, and thank you!

You got it right. This is called the "reinforcement" system. It's a really great idea, enabling you to specialize  army compositions very easily on the fly. Unfortunately due to the "any random factory" issue, units taking the shortest path from the factory possibly through enemy territory, as well as bugs where some new units have a mind of their own despite being part of the army, it's not ready for prime-time. I hope Stardock will keep working on it though, even if it means doing so after release, because I really like the concept.

True, the concept  of reinforcement is awesome, it just need optimizations.

What about having the reinforcements ONLY come from factories that have the rally point set to that particular army or dreadnought.

Arm 1 requests reinforcements, factory 1 and 2 have the rally point set to Army 1. Reinforcements come from factory 1 and 2 only.

Does anyone else think that might work ok? It would give us precise control over where our units come from.
